Hello everyone! My name is Victoria and I am looking forward to having you join me in the ASL classroom! I have a degree in the field of Sign Language Interpreting, something very dear to me. I have worked with Deaf students from elementary to college levels. I've had the joy of teaching ASL to students with multiple disabilities from the ages of 3-8 and working with so many people with all different circumstances and backgrounds. Interpreting has taken me to many different fun and exciting assignments including medical appointments and hospital visits, classrooms, awards assemblies, job interviews and much more.

Teaching, though, has allowed to me to experience a whole new love of Sign Language because I am able to help others not only learn fluent and correct ASL, but teach them about Deaf culture! I have had experience teaching ASL for 7 years now and absolutely love my work.

I passed my English Proficiency Test from the state of Texas from the Board of Evaluators for Interpreters (BEI) and was granted permission to move forward with my BEI Performance test. The TEP tests the tester’s understanding, comprehension, and ability to explain even the most complex English words and thoughts.

I have had experience working with many age groups teaching Sign Language. Some Elementary School-High School Level, Businesses and Employees seeking to learn ASL to enhance customer service opportunities, and even young children with multiple disabilities. 
I cater to many different needs as well! I have taught many children and young adults learning just for fun! Others are more advanced and wish to pursue careers in Deaf Ed and Interpreting. Another area I've assisted with is helping those in the medical field learn to better assist their patients belonging to the deaf community. 

What can you get from my class that you may not get from others? For starters, I'm teaching my own courses I have found the best ways to make learning ASL enjoyable and easy. I go at your pace to achieve your individual goals. I welcome students of all ages and experience levels.

In each of my classes I not only teach signs but working on ASL concepts and grammar. We also begin putting signs in sentences from Unit 1 so that you use the signs. Every unit not only has opportunities to practice signing yourself, but to work on receptive, how well you understand someone when they sign. We also start conversation practice from the start. All of these techniques put together will make sure you're learning the language in its entirety and correctly!

I also have extensive training with the Interpreters Training Program for Sign Language Interpreters. I have knowledge in Sign Language in areas of Medical, Law and Education! I also have training in Sign to Voice!  What does that mean for you? That means you can become proficient in ASL in ANY area you desire!

 Sign Language is beautiful, and I would love to help anyone interested learn my favorite language as well! Come and join my class and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

I've been taking sign language lessons with Victoria since last year, and it has been a truly rewarding experience. As someone who isn't learning sign language for professional reasons, but rather for personal enjoyment and self-care, I've found her teaching style to be perfectly suited to my needs. Despite my slow pace and limited practice time due to life's demands, Victoria has shown incredible patience and understanding.

She is adept at helping me through my struggles, always allowing me to progress at my own pace. This approach has been invaluable, especially as I've grappled with my perfectionist tendencies and the frustration of not meeting my own expectations. Her support has made a significant difference, helping me to enjoy the learning process and to view it as an integral part of my self-care routine.

Overall, her patience, adaptability, and encouraging demeanor have greatly enhanced my journey in learning sign language. I'm grateful to have her as my tutor and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn sign language in a nurturing and pressure-free environment.

Sometimes fingerspelling the word with the plural English ending for the word is another way to pluralize for clarity, especially signs over the body that indicate a role or title: "King (ASL sign of a K from shoulder to opposite hip as a sash) of Kings (fingerspell kings). That is done similarly when a sign has two meanings such as "He found gold (ASL sign for gold) in California (fingerspell Calif).
