Music Lessons in Jacksonville, FL

Throughout its history, Jacksonville has been a hub of music. Starting in the 1930s, the Ritz Theater played host to legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong; even Ray Charles started his career playing piano there. 1950s teen idol Pat Boone also hailed from Jacksonville, and southern rock was basically defined by the Jacksonville music scene, with talent like the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special.

With such a rich heritage, Jacksonville continues to draw and create talented musicians, including many professional teachers. Through our certification process, we find qualified instructors experienced in both teaching and performing. We have guitar instructors skilled in classical, flamenco, rock and bass guitar. If you are thinking of a recording career, we have lessons in music recording, performing and songwriting. Looking for classic music instruction? We have lessons in music theory, piano and organ. And because Jacksonville attracts all types of performance, not just musical, our Jacksonville music lessons list also includes performance and acting lessons.

At TakeLessons, we want you to reach your musical potential, no matter your age or experience. We will customize lessons to your personal goals. Whether you live in Jacksonville, or neighboring Orange Park, Fleming Island or Neptune Beach, we have classes for you. You will have the flexibility to set your schedule, including the length and number of sessions, and our student counselors will help set up your first lesson and get the billing set up. You’ll also have access to an online account to track your lessons, payments and goals.

Brenda B.

Jacksonville, FL

About Brenda

Hi, there! My name is Brenda Blanchard and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 1985 and have loved helping my students become well rounded piano players, skilled and highly expressive artists and outstanding musicians.
A good musical foundation is important in having a sound piano technique and skill. One should be able to learn theory and methods easily with me. However, it is interesting to note that as my student you can develop your own artistry and technique as well. These are what I hope to deliver as your teacher ---help you learn the theory, skills,
technique and method in a fun and casual environment! Remember ... our goal is to learn as much as we can in every lesson and try to throw any questions you might have during the class. It will be greatly appreciated. To let you know more about myself, at age 5, I started playing the piano and went on to finishing Piano Pedagogy from Saint Louis Music Center and B.S. Mass Communications from Saint Louis University . My career as a music educator started when I taught piano at the Yamaha School of Music. Ten years of classical training me has helped me attain this rewarding career. As a child, I have had the opportunity to be a € performer and an accompanist to many choral groups in school. My musical experiences also include performing in Cafe Vasilici€, San Leandro, California, where I can play all styles especially classical music. The ability to sight read is just one of the many endowments I can teach. Others include, an impeccable love for music and a good ear for music.
Brenda showed talent and a keen interest in piano playing at an early age of 5. She underwent extensive and rigid musical training at the Saint Louis Music Center (an independent music school exclusively run by the Nuns of Saint Louis University, Baguio City, Philippines) from the years 1972 to 1981. Under the tutelage of Mrs. Edna Maniquis, she learned how to effectively sight read any song, memorize her recital pieces and be very proficient in piano playing. In 1984, she continued to study with Mrs. Linda Lirag Reynado, a St. Paul's College Conservatory of Music graduate with a Major in Piano, Minor in Voice and who is the founder and owner of Baguio Music Studio, Philippines. In 1992 she finished a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from Saint Louis University.
As a piano student in her early years, she had the opportunity to become a finale performer in her student recitals gaining recognition as the best performer in her class. Growing up, during her high school and college years, she was involved with accompanying singers or chorus groups on the piano and joining in competitions where she won several awards and distinctions. Her musical experiences include playing in front of an audience and performing all styles and especially classical music.
Her 16 years of classical training also helped her attain a teaching position at the Yamaha School of Music in the Philippines and a rewarding teaching career at the Florida Conservatory of Music in Jacksonville, Florida.

*** Lesson Details ***
Have you ever started playing piano but got stumped and frustrated with the theory? Then you've come to the right class. I will teach you the keyboard skills and fundamentals you will need to become a successful pianist. I will provide you a step-by-step explanation on how to play the piano. If you need help with the written theory and you want to learn more about how to read and write notes, all you need to do is to enroll in my class. My instruction includes activities that will help you use the musical alphabet to read and write notes on the staff, identify intervals, and write sharps and flats. Not only will I emphasize note reading but I will help you develop a keen intelligent understanding of the musical notes and alphabet. In no time you will be playing the piano or keyboard and most especially read and play any music as you appreciate it!

It takes time and effort to learn how to play the piano and not all are expected to become wizards at it. For the most part, students should practice the piano/keyboard more often than not and just keep up with the course requirements when enrolled in my class. It takes enthusiasm, interest and most of all perseverance to play the piano however, with me you will succeed and be driven to become a good and skilled pianist!

I am retired and have wanted to play a musical instrument my entire life. Over the years, I took lessons on several instruments, without success. After two months of Remi's skillful and playful style of teaching, I can play a few songs and look forward to my weekly lessons. Thanks to Remi's expertise and encouragement, and my motivation, I can see myself accomplishing this life long goal.

I've been taking lessons with Raymond for a few years now and plan to keep taking them for as long as I can! Each lesson is a great experience because I learn so much. Even if I play the same piece for a few weeks, Raymond shows me a new detail, technique, or perspective related to it so I'm always stimulated and inspired to try to practice and improve. For Raymond, music is a way of life, and he expresses all of the dedication and artistry that that fact entails. I'm always in a better mood after lessons. And so glad that I decided to try lessons with Raymond!

Sadie is a wonderful instructor! I love math but algebra 2 is my worst enemy, so if I don't get something right away, she's very patient and thorough in explaining what she's teaching me. Her cheerful nature and positive reinforcement are definitely a boost so that I have confidence to learn and continue!

Sadie is such a talented teacher. She knows the right ways to help make you more comfortable with your voice and will help you reach your vocal goals! She has helped me personally learn to control my higher pitches. Also the comment below is from me. Its from a movie. I wasn't going to put that as the review. I was joking. However, my cat jumped on my keyboard and of all the buttons he could press he pressed enter! I just want anyone reading this to know that Sadie is an AWESOME teacher! Also very well priced!

What Are the Best Songs to Sing to Show Off Your Vocal Range?
Many singing teachers agree that one of the most alarming things today is tuning in to television talent competitions and seeing nine-year-olds singing opera. Less publicly, but equally common, are singers who wrong-foot themselves with inappropriate repertoire at local singing competitions and music festivals. They might pick
