Daniel, a former faculty member of Columbia College in Chicago, is a studio and live performance singer and musician based in Chicago. His teaching and performing experience spans three decades, and includes expertise in the studies of voice, guitar, piano, bass, drums, and trumpet, along with music theory, arranging, and composing. He is a Lincoln Academy Student Laureate who holds a BA in Music Composition, and has attended graduate courses in education at Roosevelt University and DePaul University in Chicago. He has taught students of all ages at private studios, public school, and college.
Daniel is described by his students as a natural teacher. He prefers to be regarded as an advancing student, and takes the journey along with his students to guide them towards their goals with a friendly, positive, efficient and productive appro
ach. He feels that music is within all of us, and a desire to learn is a sign of talent, so anyone can develop their musical abilities with methodical practice.
The musical journey for Daniel began at an early age with trumpet and piano studies which became a passion for him by the age of 14. He was the drum major of the high school marching band, and successfully completed a paid contract to arrange music for the high school jazz band which performed in a state beauty pageant. He began teaching privately after high school, and continued playing in bands, and composing original music. He formed a professional jazz ensemble under the name of the Chicago Jazz Players by the age of 22, and developed his arranging techniques while having it performed by an eighteen piece orchestra consisting of many great local artists. It was in this environment that he gained experience with brass, woodwinds, and rhythm instruments. He was granted a position at Columbia College as an instructor at age 29 where he taught theory, sight singing, musicianship, ear training, harmony, orchestration, and composition. He scored the music for several plays, and conducted his own pieces with Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera Players. During those years he found himself playing the guitar and singing more than anything else. It was in 1995 that he focused on singing and playing the guitar with his rock band. He has produced several CD recordings of his original music in his own studio, and has helped produce local bands and artists. He performs regularly in the Chicago area.
*** Lesson Details *** Daniel exhibits patience and care with each student, and develops an individualized approach based on clear goals with practical procedures. Most beginners can expect to have a working knowledge of music notation and how it applies to their instrument within three months, and should be developing fluency in performing music that they enjoy within six months. Advancing students will enjoy the rewards that will follow by studying with an experienced teaching musician that will recognize strengths and weaknesses, and recommend proven techniques for personal musical development. Studying music should be fun, fulfilling, and in harmony with the needs and desires of the student, and this is key to the philosophy held by Daniel.
*** Studio Equipment *** Eight track recording gear; grand piano; guitars/bass (acoustic & electric); cables/amps, drum kit and percussion.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide lesson materials, and always have a metronome with me. I expect the student to have an instrument. I prefer that a student has a music stand.
*** Specialties *** Customized approach to the individual based on needs and goals.
It was only a first lesson but I can already tell I'm going to be taking more lessons with Daniel. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated. He detailed a specific plan for me to work on that isn't too rigid or boring, I'm looking forward to relearning the flute with him.

Great 1st lesson! Looking forward to continuing and learning more
I have been working as a freelance musician and private instructor in Chicago for fifteen years. During this time I have been hired to perform Jazz, Rock, R/B, and world music. As an instructor I have maintained a studio of five to twenty students on a weekly basis. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Percussion Performance, and a Master of Music degree from De Paul University in Jazz Studies.
*** Lesson Details *** With committed weekly practice there are no limits to a student's potential. I like to use the term guide to describe my teaching style. In a relaxed atmosphere, the student and I are working together to advance their musical goals. Sometimes goals are reached quickly, more often we need more time and repetition to advance. The mind learns quicker than the body, so focused
practice will help train the body and bring it to the mind's level.
*** Studio Equipment *** Finished Basement studio: drum set, snare drum, small mallet, xylophone and electric piano, room for parents to sit in on lesson
*** Travel Equipment *** Student should provide sticks and mallets and purchase a book that we will work out of weekly.
*** Specialties *** I feel comfortable teaching all levels of percussion. I have experience teaching a variety of styles Jazz, rock, classical, and world.
Jeff is very good and thorough. Works hard with you to do the excercises right. Definitely would recommend him

Jeff provided a great overview for my daughter. Wonderful first lesson.
July 14, 2016
Jeff has been great with my 7 year old son learning Djembe and Bongos. Jeff gives clear concise instructions and practices the skills with him to work on during the week. My son is easily distracted and Jeff is very flexible and listens to what he has to say, using is as a way to teach and redirects. My son can't wait to go to class every week!
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham. I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc.... The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.
A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.
Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.
*** Lesson Details *** Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's*** Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501 Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014 Epiphanies1, The Halford Company
Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Are you ready for something different? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME!
I know what it's like to be frustrated with boring exercises and processes that seem to take a lot of time but yield no results. That's why I decided to teach DIFFERENTLY!
I've invested a lot of time, energy, emotion and $$$ on big-name schools and "experts", only to be disappointed with what I was taught because a lot of the information or techniques they employed simply didn't apply to me or my goals.
Since 1997, I have perfected the K.I.S.S. methodology to improve sales, stage performance, professional advancement and overall quality of life. My effectiveness and willingness to guarantee my work sets me worlds apart from every other professional in my field. Furthermore,
I have been named "Top Producer" in EVERY sales and management position held and have won first place in every singing and speech competition EVER entered since 1991. However, with my accolades, I am humble, easy-going and take a light-hearted and humorous approach to my coaching sessions. At an early age, I was taught the importance of working "smart" and not "hard." Efficiency and effectiveness were the order of every day. As the daughter of a Master Herbalist/musician (mother) and bodybuilder/ musician/ policeman (father), wellness, discipline and the stage have always been the way of life. As a child, I was fascinated by my mother's stories of performing with members of Earth, Wind and Fire and other famous musicians and marveled at my father's accounts of being a friend and colleague of Sergio "The Myth" Oliva (3x Mr. Olympia). These experiences piqued a strong interest in stage performance and resulted in years of training in fine arts, fitness and linguistics. I was constantly reminded that the best performers in any field are "complete packages", meaning that they are well-rounded and adept in multiple facets of their chosen field. To become a complete package, I studied classical piano and vocal performance at Sherwood Conservatory of Music and VanderCook College of Music; martial arts (Hapkido) at Hyun's; Fashion Design and Merchandise Management at International Academy of Design & Technology; herbal medicine at The School of Natural Healing; acting and musical improvisation at ETA Theatre and The Second City; flag, rifle and sabre twirling with South Shore Drill Team and runway/print modeling at Barbizon and The Fashion Connection. I have also studied tap, liturgical, ballet, modern, salsa, ballroom and street dance; speech therapy; actively study psychology, anatomy and nutrition and am a NESTA-certified wellness coach.

Group classes are also available.
*** Lesson Details *** Each lesson is tailor-made to suit the student's individual needs. Custom action plan will be given to each student on a case-by-case basis. No instruments are used in my lessons, as I train the voice to be a standalone instrument. However, if you would like to accompany yourself with a guitar, piano or percussion instrument, you are very welcome to do so.

Timing Disclaimer: Our time together is very valuable. If you are not on time for your session, the missed portion will not be made up at the end of the session. If I am not on time, I will make up the missed portion at the end of the session or alternate agreed-upon time. No exceptions or make-up sessions will be made for illness, weather, transportation issues (including car trouble), or any other short-notice reason. Very helpful and encouraging.

Margo was amazing! I went to Margo to improve my speech and speaking voice. Within a few minutes of talking to me, Margo diagnosed my problem and gave me execercises to do. I saw improvements in my speech after the first session! Her fun personality made the sessions enjoyable and I walked away with helpful excercises.
I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, where I extensively studied the anatomy of the voice. I am the founder of BAWS Studio where we train artists in all aspects of performance (singing, songwriting, recording, piano, and guitar). I previously worked for a recording studio (Sound Summit Studios in Naperville IL) where I teach voice and help singers record their music in the studio. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the World.
I have a bachelors
degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectations that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer's voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.
During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music
*** Specialties *** I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.
Phenomenal. Gets to the point, is great at demonstrating, and provides feedback you can work off of.

So far, lessons with Ben have been VERY good (and productive! I'm naturally a reserved person, but He has gotten me to push beyond my comfort zone (that is "be louder"), which in retrospect has also helped me build my confidence in other areas. So at this point I look forward to having lessons, because I am growing in my understanding of how to use this God-given gift; a gift that's meant to be shared (not hidden away in silence).
Hi, there! My name is Josh, and I can't wait to meet you! I am fairly new to private teaching and am looking forward to helping my students get a good solid start with either piano, or improvised theatre. I studied theatre in Philadelphia at the University of the Arts, and I trained at the IO theatre in Chicago for improvised theatre. I studied jazz piano with Dr. Joe Utterback in Stratford, CT. I've been performing in Chicago as an improvisor and mucisian for about 4 years. I'm a relaxed and friendly person and my teaching style is very much based on what you want to accomplish, though I'd be happy to make suggestions. I really look forward to helping you reach your goals!
If there’s one thing actor Andrew Reece brings to his work, it’s passion. Born in 1995 in Los Angeles, California, the actor/director and film industry entrepreneur was always bound for more than the routine 9 to 5. Andrew majored in acting during college at Texas Tech, attending the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, the University of Permian Basin, Texas A&M Commerce and Texas A&M College Station before moving to Chicago to pursue his acting career. But the tough yet exciting world of film and television is what he finds most rewarding. Tenacious and extremely goal-orientated, Andrew enjoys putting all his energy into his work. He has performed at several venues, including IO Theatre and Second City, with experience in improvisation, comedic storytelling and voice acting. For Andrew, work has to be as challenging as it is exciting a
nd this is why he loves acting. In Andrew’s own words, “Nothing worth having comes easy.”
Such an amazing teacher. Andrew has a total command on his field. I feel myself lucky that my skills are nourished by such and amazing acting teacher. He sees your possible ability about which even you are not aware and make it come out as a best in you. His humbleness and giving is unique and his approach is all rare. His techniques made me learn about so many things. His different exercises made me a better learner. He shines and grooms every aspect of your talent. I definitely am is a better actor now, there are many good words I can write about him but he is a genuine acting teacher.
June 30, 2016
The best teacher ever! I appreciate Andrew taking the time to listen and teaching me things that I am not aware of. I have learned so much about acting and how to continue to improve my skills. Thank you!"

Andrewis a fantastic teacher that unlocks your true potential! Only serious actors should go to Joe, since he will not coddle you like most other acting coaches.
In just 1 class you WILL be acting in at least 3 scenes, AT LEAST. He will unlock your full potential and sometimes that means digging deep into yourself, making you learn or confront some possibly scary things about yourself.
Despite this hard working down-and-dirty nature, he is an extremely warm, kind and fun person.
His critiques are genius and he always seems to know exactly what to say to make you understand and to help you.
I cannot recommend Joe more highly, he is amazing!
"Tyler is the first teacher to ever actually give every minute you pay for. Even if I was a few minutes late, he would stay late to cover the lost time. An

"I have tried online lessons in the past and they haven't worked out the best. I have not yet needed to work with Tyler online, but I'm sure he would be gr
