A very good first lesson. We went over breathing exercises and scales. Also had time for Amy to critique my speaking style through a portion of a speech I will be giving in a month. Time well-spent.

She briefly went over the next lesson plan and gave me a little homework to do as well.

I got a lot out of this lesson and I can see how this will help me accomplish my goal of being a better public speaker and having a more controlled and stronger voice.

Looking forward to future lessons.

I was interested in learning to sign from the time I was a little girl. American Sign Language and the Deaf culture have always been fascinating to me. When it was time to choose a college and career, I sought a way to use ASL in my daily life. I became a Teacher for the Deaf, and I continue to have a passion for both the language and the culture. I want to share that passion with you!

I have been a Teacher for the Deaf for 5 years. I work daily with students who use ASL as their main form of communication. In addition to meeting their individual needs, I create goals and implement direct lessons to help them learn and improve ASL.

I learned American Sign Language in a formal college setting. I learned ASL from both Deaf and hearing instructors. I met several times weekly with my professors in the classroom setting and participated in "immersion" hours throughout my college career. Now, I use it daily to communicate with my students and other professionals.

About Robyn

"Turtle." It was the first sign I learned as a kid, and it stuck with me. From that time forward, I wanted to learn American Sign Language. I didn't have the opportunity until I reached college, where I dove head first into the world of ASL and the Deaf community. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in

"Karin is truly the best German instructor ever. The most important thing to me is that Karin helps me feel comfortable and confident in at not only reading and understanding German, but also speaking German. I am encouraged and helped at just the right level so I really know that I am learning how to read, write, and speak German in a German speaking country. But there are so many other things as well. The materials she uses are excellent. I get a copy of all the things she types during out on line learning sessions which helps me really learn and remember the German in the lesson. Karin has also sent me other materials such as useful phrases that I could use in situations in another country such as how to order and pay for food in a restaurant, how to tell the clerk what you want when reserving a hotel room, etc. In addition, I can always email Karin if I have a question or concern and Karin responds very quickly. At first, I was concerned that on-line lessons would not be as effective as a classroom lesson face to face. Karin immediately made me feel comfortable learning on line. Now I feel that I am getting more attention and personal one-on-one help more than I would ever get in a classroom. Karin is a really great German teacher."

"I had an amazing experience with Connor Frost on the trial lesson for the 'Online Introductory Mandarin' classes. I decided to take his classes right away. What I liked from him? Everything, but putting in words, he has a strong online methodology, he's Chinese-American (his English is native, for me it's like I'm learning Chinese and practicing my English at the same time), he's very professional, patient, friendly, and it's clear he has all expertise and tools to make anyone learn Mandarin. I'm having so much fun. I strongly recommend him. Try it, you're gonna love it. Thank you Connor."

"Clare has been an amazing tutor! I did about ten weeks of one-on-one Japanese lessons in anticipation of a trip to Japan - although the trip fell through, Clare was extremely helpful and patient, always teaching with an emphasis on how things would actually be expressed in Japan. She was great at establishing the foundations and rules of grammar, but also when those rules can be broken.

After spending several years in the country, she also has fabulous insights into the culture and how to navigate as a non-native in Japan. Thanks Clare, I will be certainly be back when I can plan my next trip!"

10 Must-Know German Expressions for Traveling Abroad

Do you have a trip planned to Germany? Traveling abroad is an exciting adventure as it can open your eyes to new customs, cultures, and people. While the experience is often amazing, there's one thing many people don't think about before they go—the language barrier. You'll find that there are many English-speaking people in Germany, but you won't always be able to identify them.
