The act of singing changes the chemistry of our bodies! A team of German scientists have found that vocalizing spurs the production of oxytocin, a hormone commonly referred to as the "love" molecule. Oxytocin is known to heighten happiness, well-being, trust and reduce stress and anxiety. We will practice breathing exercises (pranayama) to increase breath capacity and control. You will learn techniques to smooth the break (passagio) to sing with a connected tone. You will know how to engage the "yawning" muscles (soft palate, mylohyoid, sternohyoid, thyrohyoid) to maximize resonance. We will practice exercises to relax the tongue and jaw to belt high notes effortlessly. Developing "middle voice" will extend our vocal range and eliminate strain and fatigue. We will choose repertoire that highlights your vocal strengths and discuss stage presence and expression through song. I highly recommend "The New Voice" by Alan Greene.
"To play wrong notes is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable." - Beethoven I was five years old when I discovered my singing voice. My youthful curiosity soon blossomed into a passion for musical expression through voice, violin, piano, and guitar. My mission is to share the mu

As an advanced player in High School, I started teaching the upright double bass to younger HS students who asked me for private lessons for their Nyssma auditions or to get better. My students all not only aced their auditions after our intensive lessons, but went on to music conservatories to study the double bass in their own right. I like to think I had something to do with sparking their love and developing their innate talent as my own early teachers did for me. I loved teaching then and I still love to pass on that spark so that this instrument will never be left without well-studied, talented double bassists. I have a double degree in Bass Performance & Music Education from the Eastman School of Music under the esteemed virtuoso and professor, James VanDemark. Whether you are a beginner/intermediate or advanced student of the Double Bass, I can help you reach that next level.

Tim is a phenomenal instructor! I have tried expensive videos by Marty Schwartz, subscription services like JamPlay.com, and have spent hundreds of dollars on Skype lessons with popular YouTube instructors like Mike Gross. In the year that I have been playing, one month of lessons with Tim did more for my playing than 11 months with the other methods I've tried. You owe it to yourself to give Tim a month of your time. He transformed my understanding of the guitar, has taught me to be self-sufficient with learning songs I hear, and has made playing exciting. Without being able to articulate exactly what I wanted to accomplish, Tim's uncanny intuition for balancing what I think I needed with what I really need took my playing to the next level very quickly. Nothing can substitute the depth of his musical knowledge, but more importantly, his keen sense of feeding me just what I need from everything he knows. Tim carefully plans out a lesson for me based off of my progress, has me take notes, and gives me ideas on how to improve before my next lesson. The most exciting day of my week is the hour I spend learning from a great instructor and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn how to play from Tim."
If you're familiar with blues chords and ready to start trying your hand at some riffs, this exercise from guitar teacher Samuel B. will help you get the ball rolling... As an instructor (and blues guitar afficionado), I'm keen on you developing a working knowledge of the blues. The blues is the musicological basis of all recognizable forms of American music (gospel, contemporary country, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, early rock n roll, the list goes on). Therefore, said knowledge will imp …
