About Marc

I've been playing music since I was 14 years old. I studied classical guitar at State University in Buffalo, NY. and also studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I love just about every style of music. I mostly play Celtic, Bluegrass, American traditional, jazz, and classical. I a

He is very good with me. I'm not a very good student. I have bad habits and I'm overly sensitive to criticism, yet he has not made me feel bad at all about my playing if you want to call it that. I also have a short attention span and can't read music fluently. But his patience is much appreciated, and each week get a little better at it all. I recommend him to those trying their best to sound a little better.

It was really good information and I had a lot of fun.

I have been taking fiddle/violin lessons from Marc for a few months now, and it has been a great experience. He is very patient and keeps things fun by helping me learn pieces that I am interested in learning to play. I would highly recommend him for any instrument you are wanting to learn.

My BA had an emphasis in "classical" music theory but I'm also well versed in jazz theory and pop and rock. My understanding of music plays a role in everything I play and write. I love it and love teaching it.

About James

I've played keyboards and sang professionally for the last 25 years. During that time my home has been in the San Francisco Bay Area but I have performed all over the country and have toured several times in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan. I’m a two time winner of the West Coast Songwriters “Song

I came away from my lesson with James feeling so happy and knowing that he will be teaching and encouraging me all the way going forward. I am actually lost for words to express what an incredibly positive experience I had today. I am also looking forward to my grand daughter taking lessons from James now too. I feel I got lucky that James is the teacher that was found for me.

This was a great lesson. He knows his stuff and can really develop a person. I did 20 minute lessons to start, but honestly the more time you can the better. He taught me way more than I expected I could learn, but I could tell there's so much more he can do with more time. My lesson was as long as it took to drive there but it was worth it even for how short it was. I'm doing longer next time for sure.
Danny's really great to work with. He's very skilled and I'm glad he's teaching what he knows because I'm pretty sure he keeps himself busy with a lot of projects. I highly recommend lessons with Danny. It's fun and comfortable because he's a great person and funny and easy to be around even if you haven't taking any lessons on singing.

After a decade of teaching violin to students of all backgrounds, including students with shyness or attention issues (adults can have them too!), I've learned that there is no one way to learn this instrument. With the knowledge that violin teaches life skills and daily coping mechanisms beyond the music itself, I work to create a learning environment that promotes fun and caters to a student's learning style, strengths, and needs. (p.s. -- I've been featured on the Today Show, ABC News, Classic.FM, and by Ellen DeGeneres!)

Laura was amazing! Daisy really learned so much in the first lesson. Laura has a fun and engaging way about her and delivers her lesson with such clarity that I, as a parent who does not play an instrument, will be able to make sure she is doing the correct thing in practice. Thank you Laura!

"Wilma is a wonderful instructor. She is extremely patient and will go over the materials until the student understand and can play the lesson as required. I was able to sit and observe her in the lesson and was able to assist my son when he was practicing. She is always prompt and ready to go when we arrived. We never had to wait she was always prepared. My child is 6 and Wilma was able to get him focused on what he needed to do in class and he was able to replicate the lesson at home."

"Rachel is a fantastic teacher and tutor. Her expansive knowledge of music theory and ear training contributes to her vast musical ability. Not only is she a great performer, but she is able to break down the music and explain it in a variety of ways in order to effectively teach students at any level. Most importantly, Rachel is an advocate for students expressing their own musical voice. She will not tell a student exactly how to play a given piece, but rather she will teach them the necessary tools for the student to play well, and allow them to explore their own musical interpretation from there.

Outside of music, Rachel is a genuine and kind-hearted person. She is understanding and empathetic, and this carries over into her teaching as well. That being said, Rachel holds herself and her students to high standards. Students will hear improvement in their tone, technique, and musicality as they work with Rachel. I give her my highest recommendation for all subjects."

"I am a 60 year old man and so, one can imagine my initial reluctance to take up singing lessons at this age. But after the first 2 sessions with Bebé, I knew I was in the right hands. She is every bit the professional that you can trust to do a great job. I was extremely impressed, not only with her amazing vocal talents, but also with her technical skills, knowledge and experience. Bebé assessed my abilities, and set to work quickly and efficiently, and that's where I feel she truly excels. Bebé was patient, took her time to understand my objectives and capabilities, and pushed me just enough to keep gaining my confidence. I only had 5 lessons at this point, and I can already hear and feel the progress. The classes were fun, but Bebé takes her work very seriously, as any true professional would. I'm looking forward to my next sessions."

"David is a very skilled drummer and a very enthusiastic teacher. In lessons, he seems to like to split time between practicing rudiments and learning to play different rhythms on the set. He is also exceptionally patient and supportive with my 9-year-old, highly distractible daughter. I am really glad we found David--he is an excellent teacher and I love watching my daughter learn so much about music!"

How to Transition from Classical Pianist to Jazz Pianist

Piano music doesn't have to be all classical, all the time! Here's what you need to know about getting started with jazz piano chord progressions, courtesy of St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L...   Thelonius Monk, Herbie Hancock, and Duke Ellington are just a few of the great jazz piano players.
