Thanks Fawn for another great lesson! Wow. You are the best!
Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.
Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.
Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.
*** Lesson Details *** Lesson structure varies depending on the student's instrument, age, level of experience and musical style. However, all lessons focus on:

After 3 or 6 months of consistent lesson attendance and practice, students will have a clear understanding of how their instrument works and how to care for it. They will be able to read basic music notation. They will be working toward clearly defined musical goals and they will have at least three performance pieces learned.
*** Studio Equipment *** Loft Space: full size electric piano with weighted keys, small digital recorder, microphone, Garage Band, parents can sit in on lessons
*** Travel Equipment *** I bring a small keyboard for vocal students with no piano, karaoke tracks and a digital recorder. I also bring a selection of games. Students are expected to purchase all necessary books and sheet music.
Love how she teaches the mechanics of learning to sing properly such as breathing correctly and posture right from the start for a beginner. Fantastic instructor!

Amazing singng instructor
Crystal has increased my daughterâs self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those âteenâ years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor
Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughterâs love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystalâs professional and caring teaching style.

My style and attitude toward teaching is a balance between subject delivery and reflective, supportive interaction. I seek to enable current research on education for busy, yet goal-driven student interests. This is done through customized online lessons coordinating the experience with optimal resources and tools: ESL and Speech students learn to monitor their own phonological issues with dedicated software/feedback, guiding German students through conversational dialogues, and ensuring relevant resources for Excel and related productivity lessons.
Due to my limited funds
, I do not have direct experience with the Adobe suite, but I have extensive knowledge of related, free distributions that are transferable. Possibly the only PhD on Takelessons server from a regionally accredited university, I am a member of the American Council on Foreign Language Learning and the Association for Language Learning. My most popular subjects are as follows:
North American English Pronunciation Practice for ESL (NAEPP-ESL) or Accent-Reduction: *****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 recordings, and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****
Carefully following Burkkowsky's (1969) multi-media method, I have taught this subject for over five years for public and private causes, such as library, individuals, and language schools. German Language and Culture: *****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recordings and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****
Microsoft Excel: ***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***
Typing: ***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***
Dr. G has been able to identify and target very specific problems in my speech. His method is very effective. He is an excellent teacher!

Among the accent reduction teachers that I had before, Erol is the only one who actually could find the problems in my accent! The program he uses is very useful. The way he explains things or exaggerates the mistakes will help me to correct my accent. Overall, an awesome experience and I would totally recommend him to anyone.
I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching. I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids. Have a great day, Marcel
Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.
I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Excellent teacher. We took a 20'x2' section of "dirt" in the back, redid the soil, transplanted a rose in that section, added two other new roses and a bunch of ground cover. Looks great! Recommended.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.
I am a former German professor from Russia who currently lives in America and tutors full time now Russian and German.
I provide a variety of activities for my lessons so you will never get bored. For example, I will use games, interactive conversational lessons, fun warm up tasks, case studies, and even riddles. We will use authentic materials as well. You will learn conversational skills, formal writing skills, and test taking strategies all in a fun manner.
I have a background as as an experienced lecturer, teacher, and tutor in the field of linguistics (general linguistics, history of linguistics, psycolinguistics, social linguistics, gender studies). Since defending my dissertation, I have continued to do research in gender studies in the field of virtual communication and digital text, especially non-verbal communication, soci
al networks and gender-specific communication. However, I have found that my true passion is helping students in one-on-one lessons.
I am having a very dynamic and very immersive German experience. I enjoy it a lot!

Tatiana is certainly one of the greatest teachers I have ever studied with. I am extremely grateful to have her as my mentor, and I my recommendations are high for anyone seeking a top-quality language-learning experience.

I've only just started, but I can see that I'm definitely going to make some great progress with Tatiana. I would recommend her for sure.
My name is Michelle and I am a Soprano. I have been singing classically for seven years. I previously studied at East Los Angeles College, where I received my AA degree in Music and at Azusa Pacific University, where I graduated with a BM in Classical Vocal Performance.
If you take lessons with me, we will go over singing technique fundamentals, IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) for singers, vocal pedagogy, and classical repertoire. Additionally, I offer lessons in music theory, ear training and sight singing, and Spanish. I am eager to begin working with you!
From the start, Michelle has been so helpful and easy to work with! She is super friendly and wants the best for you, and is quick to understand how to best work with you so that you get the most from your lessons. She has a beautiful voice and is excellent at communicating how to best adjust your own voice to sing better and stronger. She also is very flexible with schedule, which has been so helpful! Thank you for your help, Michelle!

Michelle is the most amazing teacher! Very patient, thorough, challenging and understanding. I highly recommend her! She sees where your level is at and grows from there!!

My name is Dana. I was born and raised in Israel. I am fluent in Hebrew. I have been teaching for many years. I listen to my students and help them learn by reading and speaking. I make my lessons fun. See you in class!
I am a professional English/ Arabic teacher and translator/ Interpreter. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Arabic/ English Translation and Interpretation
Language students can expect to improve week to week in their conversation, reading and writing techniques. Every student has a unique way of learning; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundation techniques in order to unlock their own individual talent. I can help any student to speak with freedom, confidence, and expression.
I teach Arabic and English students of all different ages and experience levels. I am native Arabic and studied English for 16 years, and English/ Arabic university level language for 4 of those. I can teach students to speak, write and read Arabic and English and pursue communication excellence, to learn how to speak colloquial Arabic, or both
depending on the goals and preference of the student.
As a professional interpreter, I frequently take trips within California to provide interpretation services. I have interpreted and translated for well-known entities in the United Arab Emirates like Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Dubai Education Council and Abu Dhabi Police. I love to mentor students who want to become effective, dynamic speakers.
My personal passion is reading but I firmly believe that writing is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better linguist!

"I was impressed that on the very first day Balaram had picked up quite a few words and was able to read and write a bit."
"I just had my first class. And luckily I came in with some knowledge about the alphabet already, so the class was easy to follow. She's very interactive a
nd I love that she critiques so well. I will definitely be signing up for some more classes soon."
"Mr. Psoras gave 4 lessons to my 8.5 yeal old daughter, Katherine. He evaluated her first for free, which was a clear indication that he works to achieve b
etter results rather than to make more money. Mr. Psoras was always on time, responsive, friendly, enthusiastic. Greek is his native language, and he knows how to teach. He is full of resources too, so you won't get bored. We had to stop lessons on line because of an opportunity to continue lessons in person."
"Yulia is great! I was a little disorganized and Yulia proposed accommodations with ease."
"Very knowledgeable and professional. I look forward to learning."
