'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. He has always used proven educational techniques to instruct undergraduate students, graduate students and school children/teenagers (K-12). In addition, Dr. Cliff is a Certified Tutor by American Tutoring Association and National Tutoring Association (Math); he holds California Teaching Credentials in Math (CSET I,II,III), Busin
ess (I,II,III), and Educational Technology/Computers (I,II); he is a Sylvan Certified Teacher in Math and Arts/Language K-12.
Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.
In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching. I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids. Have a great day, Marcel
Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.
I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Excellent teacher. We took a 20'x2' section of "dirt" in the back, redid the soil, transplanted a rose in that section, added two other new roses and a bunch of ground cover. Looks great! Recommended.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.
I am a former German professor from Russia who currently lives in America and tutors full time now Russian and German.
I provide a variety of activities for my lessons so you will never get bored. For example, I will use games, interactive conversational lessons, fun warm up tasks, case studies, and even riddles. We will use authentic materials as well. You will learn conversational skills, formal writing skills, and test taking strategies all in a fun manner.
I have a background as as an experienced lecturer, teacher, and tutor in the field of linguistics (general linguistics, history of linguistics, psycolinguistics, social linguistics, gender studies). Since defending my dissertation, I have continued to do research in gender studies in the field of virtual communication and digital text, especially non-verbal communication, soci
al networks and gender-specific communication. However, I have found that my true passion is helping students in one-on-one lessons.
I am having a very dynamic and very immersive German experience. I enjoy it a lot!

Tatiana is certainly one of the greatest teachers I have ever studied with. I am extremely grateful to have her as my mentor, and I my recommendations are high for anyone seeking a top-quality language-learning experience.

I've only just started, but I can see that I'm definitely going to make some great progress with Tatiana. I would recommend her for sure.
Hi, there! My name is Dony] and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2007 and have loved helping my students to learn how to code. I went to USC and earned a Master degree in Computer Science in2011. I'm a friendly and patience person and my teaching style is a systematic and directional. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I am not only a native speaker of Polish, but also a proffesional teacher with a great experience of work with small and big groups, 4 years old kids, teenagers, adults, and 80 years old students ( by the way, bravo for Ms. Marie from Paris!). I use the methods that are the best for you: traditional, based on PDF or ebooks, interactive exercises, quzilets, kahoots or just conversation - it is all up to you. You decide! I do my best - I build a curriculum, then I adjust and create the exercises. I plan the revisions and I keep you motivated and satisfied every time we meet. You learn. This will be hard work and fun. Not possible? Check it!
Agata is excellent teacher! I’d like to highly recommend Agata to everyone.
I have been taking classes with Agata for over a year. She is patient, and is always prepared with interesting material. She is a highly qualified and experienced Polish teacher. She is a very positive, highly organized and she has a great sense of humour! I enjoyed having a class with Agata. Over the period that I took lessons with Agata, my Polish knowledge substantially improved.

I have been studying Polish with Agata for almost two years (once a week). She is an awesome teacher, very intelligent, fun and lively, full of energy and passion. Agata always prepared different types of exercises for me, so the lessons were never boring. She can find an individual way for every student, for example I had a hard time actually starting speaking in Polish with other people and Agata suggested to have more conversations and brought lots of interesting topics to discuss.
It was a great pleasure to be her student and I can't recommend her enough.
I am a capable and practical teacher. My goal is to help you improve your speaking, reading, and writing skills wether you need tutoring or are just starting out on a journey of discovery of this wonderful language spoken by millions of people around the world. I'll make it easy and fun to learn wether you take Spanish, Public Speaking, or any of my other subjects with me.
My education includes a Certificate of Bilingual Competency from Glendale Unified School District for Spanish language studies which I took to maintain and improve my native Spanish language skills.
Communication is my specialty, I have a degree in Communication Studies from California State University Northridge.
I am an American English speaker who has mastered the Chinese language. I was trained by some of the best Chinese language teachers while at UC Berkeley for my undergraduate degree. I entered into the Chinese Bridge Competition held every year, and was the number one American, Chinese language speaker. I was sent to China where I competed against top talent in almost every other country in the world and took first prize that year. After winning this competition, I continued training at UCLA where I got my Masters in East Asian Studies, so I am also trained in Ancient Chinese. The UCLA newspaper had my story on the front page which can now be viewed online through a search. I have continued using Mandarin on a daily basis and know the ins-and-outs of learning this difficult language as an American English speaker.
"Purnima is an excellent teacher of ASL. I have no prior experience and I feel very comfortable with her style and pace. If you can get her - I highly reco
mmend her! Danielle G."
"Classes with Arron have been really helpful. I think if you have classes with him, you're getting a great value. It seems very important to him that I und
erstand what he's been teaching and that we complete the planned amount of work for each lesson. Not only that, but he has even been kind enough to extend his teaching beyond the virtual classroom by answering questions that I've had between classes through messages. It is so helpful to have someone who knows what he's talking about to answer the tough questions that are too hard to find the answers to with Google.
I really appreciate your teaching. Thank you, teacher Arron."
"Evelyne is a superb French teacher. She is knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and a pleasure to know and to take French lessons from, either in person o
r online (I have done both and will continue to do so.) Robert C."
"This was my first lesson with Rie. She was very kind, personable, and patient. She took her time to see where I need the most assistance and worked with m
e from there. I look forward to our future lessons."
"Prajakta is a great teacher! My son has been taking Hindi lessons once a week for the last 1 year with her. Over the last year we have seem him understand
pieces of our conversation and ask questions about the words he didn't understand. This is a huge step forward for him, because earlier he didn't seem interested in Hindi at all."
"Profesora F. is a very caring and considerate teacher. I was going through a rough time when she was teaching me, and she was patient and willing to work
with me to help me succeed. She always encouraged me and made me determined to do well. She is a wonderful teacher and person."
"Alexandra is an inspiring and professional instructor! She diagnose my pronunciation problems and provided very useful tips to improve my pronunciaiton
accuracy. These tips are really good take-home toolkit because I can practice my pronunciations anytime. I am more confident in speaking English. Thank you!"
"As an educator I have high expectations. I have tried two other tutors in the hopes of finding a tutor that would fit me. While the other tutors were very
polite and comfortable to work with, Jeehoon exceeded my expectations. Jeehoon was prompt, organized, knowledgeable, and very comfortable to work with. He also has a great personality and sense of humor which helps to relax the student fostering a learning environment. I learned the most with him in one lesson than the other two lessons from my other tutors combined. If you truly want to learn Korean Language in a thorough manner, this is the tutor to work with. I am excited and look forward to my future sessions with Jeehoon."
Learning a new language shouldn't be limited to textbooks and coursework! Here, tutor Kaitlin W. shares her (easy) ideas for practicing Spanish throughout the day...
I don't come from a Spanish-speaking family, nor is my family from a country where Spanish is spoken. Yet every time I open my mouth to speak Spanish, I'm asked where I am from.
I have a near-native accent that leaves little trace of my Anglo roots. I often make people guess what country I'm from, and I've heard every …
