The first lesson went very well with my daughter. Belinda was methodical in her teaching and approached the lesson with my daughter’s interest in mind. During the lesson, Belinda was able to actively engage my daughter the whole time, and more importantly, her teaching revived my daughter’s interest in drawing. She has already devised future plans to have my daughter practice sketching noses, eyes, and ears so that my daughter may draw the human face later with more realistic details.

I draw based on what I see pertaining to where light hits an object, the shape of objects, and the distance between spaces. Drawing what you see in front of you can be as easy as following simple techniques and choosing the right colors.

About Constance

I have been working with children for the past 20 years and have been an artist for 30 years. Art is a form of emotional expression and not just about how well you can draw. I believe that everyone can draw, we may have different ways of creating art, but each person is capable of artistic expressi

I like to take pride in making my students feel secure and knowing and seeing the improvement they make within each session. I will be handing out a materials list prior to our lessons. Most students see a huge leap in drawing within the the first lesson! Class starts out usually with me giving a 1 hour demonstration on what I expect them to do as I cover and explain my entire process and thought and calculations that goes into drawing and painting. For the rest of the class I will be besides the student as they work giving them one on one pointers and as much help and explanation as they need in order to improve. Students start out with learning how to look and draw what they observe accurately by first working on simple geometric shapes such as spheres, cubes. We then will move on to Cast studies and after a few months of studying we will start on figures and portraits.

I had a huge coincidence by having a lesson with Kai in the Bay Area. He and I have the same point of view about learning drawing that helps me to understand his tips and instructions. It is a true pleasure to be his student, I was feeling like I’m detective who’s seeking for tips and clues and try to transfer all of that onto the paper. Also he is really good by explaining how to see simple shapes and figures in every object, how to extend an imaginary line and keep angles which did and will help me to draw more consciously. Highly recommend him anyone who wants to improve its drawing and painting skill.

Kai is an excellent instructor and has left a tramendious mark on me as both a student and an artist. Kai may be young, but he has knowledge beyond his years through skill and ambitiously being self taught he has been commended on nationally. Kai in the fall attended FACE and was recently awarded a certificate of excellence from The Portrait Society of America. I very grateful to have worked with him and been walked through his very informative and beautiful demos. Crique from Kai is wonderful and facilitates vast and constructive improvement in skill level. Would highly recommend Kai!

Julie is an Awesome instructor. She explains the subject in detail, shares all the materials, answers all the questions patiently. She will even go a step further to learn and help if we ask anything which is out of her scope in photography. I learnt a lot from her.

"Isabela is very resourceful, she provided lot of guidelines and resources in the lesson. She provided practice material to me before my first lesson and covered the fundamentals in the first lesson which in my opinion is extremely important in the beginning to learn a new subject. Isabela is a so talented and a great instructor to have!"

"Jessica is a GREAT drawing teacher! My two daughters aged 7 and 9 have been having lessons with Jessica for a couple of months and she has done such an excellent job of catering to their very different personalities and preferred learning styles. She is so patient and calm. She has taught them various techniques, including how to work with charcoal, and they have both improved so much in such a short time. My kids really look forward to their lesson every time, and carry on with their projects when the lesson is over. I highly recommend her!"
