About Jordan
I am a professional singer and actor with over 10 years of performance experience and private vocal/acting coaching. I studied acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and have performed nationally in regional theater, for cruise lines, and several theaters in my current residence of San Diego such as the Lyric Opera San Diego, Old Globe, Lamb's Players Theater and Cygnet Theater. I have taught students from ages 7-adults, and my focus is always the dramatic and emotional aspects of the piece and how to use technique to release that emotion in a healthy and exciting way
.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is passionate and encouraging. I have taken lessons from many teachers and have found what is useful and what only confuses a student. As such, my approach to singing is very simplistic, and often what I will talk about in the first lesson will be discussed during every lesson. Lessons will usually be divided into 1/2 vocal mechanics and 1/2 dramatic interpretation.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music and acting texts, portable keyboard. Student need not provide anything.

*** Specialties ***
Broadway, voice/speech, classical theater, acting, stage combat

About Francis
Hi everyone! I'm a hard-working musician with a background in live performance, songwriting, composition, and home recording. I want to help you perform the music you love, whether you're playing to your family, your webcam, or a 15,000 seat arena. I have been teaching private music lessons since 2007.

I am a graduate of UCSD, where I completed my bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. I have taken years of private lessons, played bass, guitar, and mandolin in local and touring bands, and my music has been featured on at least 7 albums. I want to make your goals accessible, and
I want to help you find your sound.

*** Lesson Details ***
I focus on making lessons fun for my students. I emphasize the importance of practicing on your own and building confidence by performing live and/or writing your own songs. I love to help people get better at sounding like themselves.

During lessons from me, you can expect to play, sing, clap your hands, and become completely immersed in the music you love. Whether your goal is to perform in front of an audience, record albums, or just play for fun in your living room, I'll help you make that happen.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room, seating available, street parking.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I only teach students who provide their own instrument. I am willing to provide a loaner guitar for the week if a student's instrument needs to be repaired or is not accessible for any reason. I also provide homework when necessary :)

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching confidence in performance practices, technique, singing and playing, and good microphone habits for singing, speaking, recording, and songwriting. I teach based on student needs, and I find each student benefits from a different curriculum.

A talented musician and caring instructor. My son is on the Autism Spectrum and really related to Francis. Francis encourages his students to lead the way with what they desire out of their lessons. So happy we found him!

my first lesson with Francis was excellent. we talked about goals for a few minutes, then got to work. It was a good vocal warmup and workout. I learned vocal exercises, as well as practicing on a song I wanted to work on. Francis is obviously a pro.

My 11 year old son is already a working actor, but we needed someone to iron out the "rough spots" and give him some extra coaching. Since we don't live near LA, we first started working with Tyler because he was local. He is fantastic! My son just loves him, and they connect really well. When he had an audition for a lead part in a movie, Tyler took the time outside of our normal schedule for some one on one time at the last minute. He is always friendly, professional, and always flexible with our schedule. My son did not get that part, but he auditioned for a tv pilot a few weeks later. He didn't get the part he auditioned for, but he made such an impression on the director, they actually created a special rolel for just for him. We owe some of this to Tyler, he really knows how to bring out the best in your kid. Also, his fees are reasonable. You won't be disappointed!

LET'S SING!
Express yourself, with jazz, classical, pop, broadway, sacred, or folk singing! Learn to use your voice as a natural, comfortable instrument to express your creativity and have fun. Students will learn how to expand their vocal range, increase vocal projection, power and agility, how to read notation and phrasing, access the power of breathing, read and sing in foreign languages, stage presence and acting a song's message, audition techniques, and how to stay calm under performance pressure.

PHILOSOPHY
My teaching philosophy falls between technique, structure, and creative fre
edom, a delicate balance which is a key to successful instruction in the performing arts. Students are encouraged to use music as an outlet for personal expression, healing, and channeling creative energies.

LESSON CONTENT:
A typical lesson consists of:
--Physical and vocal warm ups
--Exercises targeted to building vocal technique
--Ear training
--Theory
--Developing a portfolio of performance-ready songs that vary in genre, style and difficulty.

BIOGRAPHY
I hold a B.A. in Vocal Performance from University of Minnesota in Vocal Performance and have been teaching since 2007. I'm an active performer, educator and entrepreneur with a side span of participation in the vocal arts and theatre community. Solo and ensemble performances include "Le Nozze di Figaro," "Rent," "The Mikado," "Heidi," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," choral performances with the San Diego Symphony, Sacra Profana, private events and jazz/cabaret shows. I've taught in private, community, and K-12 settings, including Gymboree, Young Audiences of San Diego, Junior Theatre of Balboa Park, San Diego Unified School District, and Cajon Valley School District. In 2007 I founded Prodigy School of Arts, a school for the visual and performing arts in La Jolla, CA, which she sold to new ownership in 2013. In my spare time I enjoy surfing, yoga, travel, languages, and dance.

Erin is a terrific teacher! She has tailored her teaching to our 13th year old daughter's interests, specifically musicals. In addition, she is giving her a foundation in musical theory. We have seen our daughter's singing and level of confidence improve steadily. We happily recommend her.

Erin has been an amazing instructor so far! I bought a package of 5 classes and will most definitely be buying more asap!

To say I had some work to do in improving my speaking voice and tonality would be a huge understatement, but I have seen awesome progress in only 3 classes with Erin! I look forward to these lessons every week because Erin keeps the classes fun and relaxed! She also makes you feel comfortable to try new things with your voice and really pushes your limits (in the best way possible).

She has already helped me tremendously with my breath, tonality and just generally being aware of how I use my voice. If you are in sales (like me) and want to sound better on the phone or in front of clients --- TAKE HER CLASSES! She will absolutely help you achieve your goals

6 Mistakes You’re Making on Your Acting Resume
Professional actors often can’t help but feel a little powerless when it comes to the process of auditioning and booking jobs. Sure, from the outside people think that actors have some say in creative aspects, but your input and personal preferences are really quite insignificant in the process (well, not until you're on a Brangelina level at least). So while you're on your way to superstardom, it's smart to leverage the opportunities at hand. The first area you have control of as an actor is t

An Actor's Life: Your Career Path to New York Shows
If you're an aspiring Broadway performer, the steps you take during high school play a significant role in your success on the stages of New York shows in the future. Sure, you sometimes hear stories of people who book amazing lead roles in shows after a single audition, but that’s not a realistic view of how it all happens - for most actors, at least. Ask any working Broadway performer – New York is not a city that hands you success simply because you’ve just moved there. Hard work, discipline,
