I got my start at the Stand Up NY comedy club in New York City. Throughout my life as a serious concert pianist, musician, writer and educator, comedy has been a shelter and a lifesaver. I met Woody Allen for conversation and some comparative opinions on his work, our favorite book stores, etc and it sparked a further desire to do some acting in film, writing and improvisation. As an improvisor in my own field of music, improvisation always came naturally to me. As a published writer and composer, structure is a familiar friend. I learned how to deal with stage fright from my professional family of musicians and some of the greatest teachers/performers of the world with whom I studied at Juilliard. Yes, the same place that saw Robin Williams and Kline and others do their thing. I hung out with actors on the third floor when I was not rehearsing music on the 5th. Made friends. Lived in LA. Wrote music and acted for films. Got published. Started a comedy concert tour aboard the historic Delta Queen steamboat line in New Orleans all the way to Galveston Texas. It's been a blast! I also met Tony Randall and learned more about acting and comedy from him in conversation and friendship over the years. Did 10 years of broadcasting off the top of my head on 3 different stations. Had a blast and made friends and a following. Interviewed countless celebrities. So, there is a lot to pass on here. I can teach you not to sweat the audience and to engage them with timing. To predispose people to feel comfortable and not to see you sweat or think out loud. Both are deadly by the way. I can teach you to make them like you when they are in any given mood. Good or bad, you can have a good time. So much is mental as you may know. We explore yours - which is unique to you. Material is also important. Timing is a subject that matures with age. As in life, timing is everything. No matter your level or experience or skill, I can help you get to a level of comfort within yourself and with your audience, reach a greater understanding of structure, pacing and material.
