I've been teaching chamber music for over 30 years and my students have gone on to sing at the Met and LaScala as well as to become teachers at Universities and Colleges. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand about balance and relationship between the instruments including voice if that is your interest.  From basic literacy of reading music with ease to sight reading music is covered very quickly and effectively.  You will be able to read new music on sight and enjoy hearing the others you perform with on a much higher level. My background in accompaniment goes back to the internationally famed trio and chamber music my family of professional musicians are known for. Hello my Friends!  

I am an internationally respected concert pianist and composer who comes from a family of renowned musicians.  I earned my Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the Julliard School in its top 1% of all performers.  My Doctorate of Music work took me from University of Michigan to the University of Southern California.  However, I also traveled much in my lifetime to study with other historic and remarkable musicians around the world.  This gave me the unique opportunity to be the fifth generation in a direct line of students to Ludwig Van Beethoven.  Some of my illustrious teachers were proteges of Josef Hofmann, Felix Blumenfeld (teacher of Vladimir Horowitz), D'Albert and Bussoni, Anton Rubinstein, and Franz Liszt.

It is marvelous to be able to find each other now online!   You no longer have to spend years and hundreds of thousands of dollars on commitments of travel  and expense for world-class education.   I am glad to pass this precious knowledge to all who wish to learn and continue to keep it alive in the world!

Many of my students continue our great legacy on the most prestigious stages of the world including the Met, LaScala and Carnegie Hall.  All students, no matter their initial goal, continue to love and deeply understand music for their entire lives.  

Each lesson you take will feel informal and yet efficient in its momentum.  Each person gets their own best shortcuts to their most effective technique and the most profound understanding of interpretive arts in the world of music.  A complete musical literacy and education is offered but you are free to select the areas you wish to focus on and be comfortable to ask any questions as well as be sure to understand the reasons for the answers.  The old world way of teaching which I do, makes sure that the student is fully aware and capable of feeling comfortable after the lesson is over.  

The goal is independence and pleasure of progress.  Personal goals will be encouraged whether they are to perform for family or on a stage.  I enjoy teaching all levels and all ages.  Each is an adventure and no two are alike.  We are all unique individuals joined by the universal language of music.    

I am happy to prepare my students and advise them for any exams preparation for university, conservatory, collage and participation in competition or festival.    I am also able to offer professional advice and if appropriate an introduction in networking.  I have won and judged competitions including International Competitions for which I can prepare students. 

I teach and advise on instrument selection and upkeep, sound recording, music appreciation, conducting, composition, chamber music and many other subjects for fully well rounded musical education.  (Take a look at all the fields I teach!)  I have worked with special needs students and lectured the faculty of many schools including Al Sigl Center.  I taught at the Eastman and Juilliard Schools of Music, University of Michigan and at the University of Southern California.   Over the years, I have given Master Classes and lectures at numerous universities and schools around the world.  

My international writing is published by Carrol Publishing House in UK and other publications in the United States.  My editing and peer review at Oxford University is published by Frontier scientific publication and my practice of personal performance system presented at the Harvard University. My concert performances as well as my teaching is historically archived at the University of Michigan as well as at Sibley Music Library at the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester.  It is preserved there for future generations.  

I invite new students to my family of students internationally and locally and welcome students of all levels and ages from around the world.  I really enjoy meeting musicians from different cultures and countries.   I am fluent in several languages but all we need to communicate is music.

Sight reading techniques for proficiency at accompanying yourself and/or another singer or musician. Timing techniques along with solidifying your ability to support the singer or instrumentalist.

Open up to your own unique singing voice. There are many goals in terms of singing and playing the piano. You might be interested even in accompanying yourself on the piano while you sing. I have an extensive collection of various pieces (both singing and piano) from a wide range of genres.

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Marty moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in 2002. Marty has over 28 years of performing and teaching experience. She studied for three years at the School of Music, University of Colorado, Boulder. She has studied in the Masters program in vocal pedagogy and has performed in a variety of venues from blues to opera. 

You will find her pedagogy technique to be respectful of the masters that have come before her. She is also open to new techniques from belting (in popular music), to microphone usage skills. As a student, you will be invited to perform in student recitals. You will be joining a team of dedicated, passionate performers who know the pleasure of performing. 

As a beginning and intermediate piano instructor, Marty will guide you in the basics of sight reading. If you prefer, your piano classes will consist primarily of improvisation and chord progressions (you will also learn a little bit of sight reading which will help you 'flesh out' the melody). You will gain a solid foundation in music theory as well as an introduction into the vast world of music history.  All age ranges are welcome, from the beginning elementary student, to the retiree just now finding the time to pursue their passion to perform. 

I have authored a variety of music theory articles to assist you with your progress. We use these in the lessons to speed up your assimilation of the material. You will receive support via this literature and will quickly recognize how music theory supports your efforts with either singing or playing the piano. 

*** Lesson Details ***
Your voice is unique to you. How you currently sing and what you want to sing will be the foundation from which we work. We will explore your voice and strengthen it via breath and physical exercises and practice with a repertoire that suits your individual tastes. We will also prepare your mind for quick and fluid articulation of your musical sensitivities. 

Music theory and various musical explorations will assist you in moving forward in the most rapid manner possible. Whether you are twelve years old or sixty-five, you will find fun as well as perceptive methods for strengthening your passion for musical performance. 

Since your body is your instrument, I am very conscious of the need to assist you in waking your body up in order to perform most successfully. The warm-up exercises include not only traditional vocalizes, but also methods for stretching your body and strengthening your diaphragmatic breathing.  My students become very aware of any residual tension in their bodies. Singing is a wonderful way to get in touch with - and expel - any way in which you might 'close down' or 'tense down' your physical body. By working with a caring professional, you will learn how to freely share your unique talent with the world. 

As we progress through the series of classes, you will use breathing exercises to activate the thoracic (throat & chest) and visceral (stomach) cavities. Your lessons will continue into specific vocalization exercises; such as singing scales, triads and specific exercises to assist you with fluid musical expression. Traditional ear training will also be a part of the lessons for intermediate students. 

Many of the lessons I teach include a theme of working on confidence, vocal projection, breath support, finding and releasing tension, vocal range expansion, audition preparation and stage performance. All singing includes a core of story-telling. You will be encouraged to 'deconstruct' a song and discover the story, along with the emotions that are found in the lyrics of the songs you will sing.

In a similar fashion, my piano students will work on exercises to establish kinesthetic learning or muscle-memory.  I have a unique method for sharing chord-progressions and piano improvisation. You will learn to quickly share music in a satisfying and pleasing manner that will surprise you and the people who hear your music. From your unique 'ear,' and via your new-found understanding of music theory, music will pour out of your piano. 

As a piano student, you will also be exposed to lessons of the masters who have taught for hundreds of years. Sight-reading at the piano is a very enjoyable skill. It is also a foundation from which we will work (while taking in mind your particular interests). Again, whether a pre-teen or a senior citizen (or anyone in between!) who has finally found the time to explore their musical talent - you will find classes uniquely suited to your musical trajectory. 

Your lessons will proceed as you acquire the ability to successfully perform your exercises and musical literature. Playing the piano fluidly and sharing your abilities with others is an amazing experience! Piano, metronome, microphone and amp. I can provide supplemental piano music; in some cases, students will need to purchase their own music. I also have an area where parents can wait for lessons to end. We also have a market or restaurant close-by as well.

When traveling to student's homes - they need to have a piano. In some cases, students also need to buy their own voice or piano books. In the event that a vocal student prefers in-home lessons and does not have a piano, I can bring an electric piano to the lessons (let's talk!).

Andrea Veneziani is a bassist, composer and educator from Italy, living in New York City. His instrumental tone, sensitivity and imagination, and melodic approach to a supposedly clumsy instrument brought him to perform and record with many established musicians such as Kenny Werner, John Stowell, Roberto Gatto, Jon Davis, Mark Ferber, Steve Slagle, John Betsch and Ben Monder, to name a few. He released two albums as a leader, Oltreoceano and the latest The Lighthouse. As a Fulbright alumnus, Veneziani is also a dedicated educator and has taught master classes and workshops at New York University, the National Institute of Music and National University of Costa Rica, Boğaziçi University in Turkey, Olav Duun Videregående Skole in Norway, New York Jazz Workshop and the University of Utah.

Hi, I'm a lifelong musician and educator with 20+ years of experience writing, recording, performing and improvising across multiple instruments and genres. After years of teaching music on the side, I left my day job as a college history professor in 2018 to devote myself full time to building a community-based music education business and couldn't be happier. I love teaching both kids and adults, and am always especially excited to work with beginners. Here are a few things I have come to believe in.

1) Individualized Approach

Music is a path with many branches. Often they will intersect in ways the student never imagined. My own musical journey has taken me from classical music to punk rock, and from Appalachian folk to jazz. There are many places from which to start, and many threads to follow. I believe strongly in following a student’s own interests wherever they lead. Music is about exploration, and I don’t believe that any genre of music prepares one for that journey any better or worse than any other. So, the student might as well play the music they love. If it’s a style I’m not familiar with, I’ll learn it with you, and then we both become richer.

2) Music is a Holistic Skill

You are not learning an instrument. You are learning music, and the instrument you play is your tool the same way that pen and paper are tools for writing. Technical skills and instrument mastery are important because they give you the ability to express yourself musically. But they are a means to an end, not the end itself. The end is making music. Every student of an instrument should understand how her/his instrument fits into that process, what its job is in an ensemble, how other instruments function, how to read standard notation in both treble and bass clef, how to read chord notation/lead sheets, and be familiar enough with the keyboard to visualize musical relationships on it.

3) Skills Not Songs

I’m not opposed to teaching songs that a student wants to learn. In fact, I think that is often the best way to approach learning an instrument. I want you to be able to use music to do what you want to do with it. Unfortunately, many private music instructors take the approach that they are there to teach you how to play specific songs for their own sake. I don’t think that is a good use of your time or money. My goal is to get students the skills to teach themselves the pieces they want to learn. Often the route to that goal runs through learning songs together in lessons. But every musical selection should teach a skill that makes the student more self-sufficient, and we will approach every song we learn with an eye to understanding it and drawing some kind of lesson or skill from it.

4) Music Theory: You Need It

Theory is the foundation of all musical expression, and part of taking lessons with me will be understanding those foundations and how they function in the construction of musical art. What theoretical concepts we learn, and how much emphasis we put on them will be dependent on the student’s interests and goals. Classical, rock, folk, and jazz traditions all use musical concepts differently, and theoretical ideas specific to one may not be relevant to another. Students interested in writing, composing, or improvisation will need more theoretical background than students who simply want to be excellent technicians of their instrument. However, even in the latter case, understanding the keys, scales, and chords from which music is built is essential to fully realizing one’s musical potential.

As a student of a famous Georgian pianist, Tengiz Amirejibi, she represented her country in numerous international competitions, gave many solo recitals and concerts with the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra, and performed for world leaders such as Eduard Shevardnadze (President of Georgia and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR). Regina's professor - Tengiz Amirejibi - was a student of Heinrich Neuhaus, a world-famous Russian pianist and professor.

Regina earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) with emphasis on Advanced Piano Performance from the Tbilisi State Conservatory. After graduating, she worked with talented young musicians in her alma mater for many years. Later in her academic and professional career, she taught undergraduate courses at the Tbilisi State Conservatory as well as the Moscow Music Gymnasium. 

Dr. Regina's teaching techniques are based on a combination of the famous Russian Music School (based on music giants such as Konstantin Igumnov, Daniel Barenboim, and Heinrich Neuhaus) and the American Music Education System. This combination allows each student to work at a pace comfortable for him/her, and helps all students make significant progress in the areas of sight reading, ear training, and performance skills.

Dr. Regina's work and student success stories have been featured in a variety of international publications.

I'm a Brazilian musician around 35 years old, based in NYC for a PhD Research in Music Composition, MASTER in Piano Performance and Singing, Professor at a University in Brazil and in the US, also Bachelor in Singing and Composition. I am also educated in multiple techniques, that I apply to my unique methodology. I combine elements of Linklater, Estill, Alexandre Technique, Feldenkrais, GDS; I am certified under the Somatic Voicework Technique and I am becoming a designated  LInklater technique instructor soon (5 years education in NYC). The combination of this technique allows me to work from a body/emotional perspective to approach music. 

Through the last 20 years of performing and teaching, I created a unique program that approaches music in a holistic way. I approach a cross-technique between piano-singing-composition and a cross-genre repertoire, that (finally) includes folk music from multiple cultures. Deeply grounded in studies of music, the student receives a program to be created collectively with me during classes, including syllabus, methods for assessment, coaching and opportunities for performance and recording.

I am very experienced leading classes of piano and Jazz/pop singing, songwriting, for kids and adults. I have a huge repertoire of classical music, pop, musical theater, Brazilian and Latin songs. Also, the practice can include harmony studies, ear training, improvisation, and composition. The main concept of my methodology is about using creativity, technology, and good music to make the students feel inspired and motivated to play the songs they want and develop skills. I teach in English, Portuguese or Spanish.

My son has been playing the cello for about 6 months in a Junior High Orchestra but he has been needing help catching up with the other students which have been playing for several years. After searching locally, we were unable to find a good teacher. Someone recommended an online teacher so we found Michelle online and had our 1st lesson. Class Experience
This class is best suited for elementary or middle school students looking to get a headstart in Orchestra. Come have fun with us and improve proper techniques for a more enjoyable experience learning music. 

This is an interactive group lesson. We will be playing games, taking turns, and having fun together.
Week 1- Proper hold, different shoulder rests, posture, how to pluck or use the bow, string names
Week 2- how to tune, pluck rhythm
Week 3- note value, read rhythm, read notes, clefs, staff, scales
Week 4- notes on the fingerboard, contact points, keeping the wrist straight, hand position, finger taps, elbow swings, play notes,  easy songs,

What will be taught; Everything needed to stay in good practice or begin orchestra next year. I sometimes will share my screen for new sheet music or flashcards. 
Topics covered;  bow hold, note recognition, basic music theory, intonation, proper position, warm-ups...
Class Structured; fun and relaxed, we will take turns and play games.

I specialize in teaching strings; violin, viola, cello, and upright bass. I teach ages four and up. If you can tie your shoes you can play the violin. I use the "Essential Elements for Strings", "G'DAE", and Suzuki curriculum.

Ms.Glenda was so fabulous as a teacher. She gave me the fundamentals of Gospel Hammond Organ for me who is a totally a beginner on Hammond Organ. I recommend her to anybody who wants to start learning Gospel music on keyboards.

Learning to follow a soloist while supporting the beat, harmony, and particular style of the music. I've been teaching accompaniment for 3 years and my students have gone on to play in combos and duos. Within the first few lessons you will be able to follow a soloist, then after a few more lessons you will be able to play in more keys and genres. I use my own materials and have materials for you.

I believe in personalizing your approach to the strangeness of the instrument. You need to learn much about posture, and proper tone production within the first year. Method books are not "how to" books. You need a teacher to guide you toward becoming familiar with the instrument. You also need to learn how to listen to the sounds you make as you play.
