Michael is a stickler for doing things right, but in a nice way. I feel that his mode of teaching is best, because it builds a solid foundation for further learning.

After a brief intro, Mike explained where're going with his lessons. I was having some problems getting my fingers near certain fret areas he wanted me to work on, so he very kindly placed some colors tape where I'm to put my fingers. That helped a lot. Been practicing an hour per day, & I'm getting a bit better daily. I've got a long way to go, but with Mike's help I'll get there. ELLIOT

Hello! I am excited to teach you how to play piano! In my lessons, you learn music theory, improvisation, ear training, and more in sessions tailored to fit your learning style and ability. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, you'll constantly be challenged to push your boundaries and discover more about the music and yourself as a musician.

But most importantly, with me you'll learn how to play the HEALTHY way by incorporating the Alexander Technique.

Many piano players suffer fatigue, stress, and injury from constant bad muscle habits that start out small at first but later have the ability to end their entire music career. With the Alexander Technique, you can train your body to do as little as possible, effortlessly gliding over the keys while utilizing gravity, energy, and balance to do most of the work for you. Gone will be the days of "I've got to give my hands/arms a break!"

My lessons are best suited for students ages 12 and up, but I do also teach the ...

I always approach lessons through the lens of what my students want to be able to accomplish, and with music that my students enjoy. I focus heavily on building a strong foundation in groove, and learning the difference between playing something correctly, and playing it correctly with a strong sense of feel and groove.

About Marshall

I have ten years of teaching and performing/touring experience ranging across a number of different genres, and I was trained at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. I currently play for multiple groups in Philadelphia including one of my own called The Lion and the Badger.

Marshall has been working with my son on his acoustic guitar for nearly a year -- both online and in person. He is a terrific teacher -- Marshall is patient, kind, and engaging. He is readily able to assess my son's continuing abilities and tailor the lesson to his specific needs. Marshall is also a great communicator and is always quickly in touch if we need to reschedule or change lesson times.

"Amazing teacher for pop singing :)

Melody is amazing vocal teacher. I've been taken lessons with multiple teachers before and shes the first one to point out my problem. She is always encouraging, enthusiastic, funny, and professional. Most importantly, she's got a gift for explaining and demonstrating technique.

Highly recommend!! If you like to learn pop singing, which is what i'm learning right now, you'll noticed the improvement after just couple classes."

"A gifted musician and teacher, Mike makes learning to play the guitar (or piano) a fun journey. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his knowledge of multiple instruments and musical genres makes him a well-rounded instructor who can adapt to each child's interests and goals.
