My lesson environment is laid back and stress-free. I want students to feel inspired and encouraged as they begin, and/or continue, their music education. I introduce fun and innovative ways to build students' musicianship and creativity while retaining classic methods to develop strong technique and proper performance and practice habits. Students are asked to prepare for each lesson with the motivation and commitment to learn something new each week. For students interested in music therapy, please ask me about my therapeutic approaches to working with piano.
About Chelsea
My teaching style is unique and individualized to each student. I set personalized goals to make every lesson a success, and I push my students to get the most out of themselves just as I do myself. I'm always enthusiastic and humor driven to create a personable learning environment for students of

We focus on playing and writing music immediately, the theory is second, music playing and having fun is first!
I'm 30 years old and I have been playing music of all kinds since I was 15. I practiced 3 years before I actually played with anyone and once I did I learned so much more. I don't want you to make the same mistake, try out my 30 minute discount rate and we can make sure you are having fun and playing music in no time, if you want to expand into harder lessons then we can worry about that later.
About Joshua
Guitar is the most amazing instrument to me. I got really lucky because someone gave me an electric when i was 12 and I just played it. I didn't even know they had to be tuned at first! Once I started playing with people I learned so much so fast. I also went to school for recording and am able

About Jason
I've always been attracted to music since I was a little kid. However, I started formally taking trumpet lessons around the age of 10. I would go on to be in a plethora of concert and marching bands all throughout grade school. When I was 14, I acquired my first electric guitar. I immediately fell

For beginners we will begin by learning the simple/core chords that are most frequently found in popular songs. Upon learning the chords we will move onto transitioning between chords and learn some basic tunes and simple strumming patterns. After that we will begin with more advanced chords which will allow you the chance to play a much larger variety of songs. Once those chords have been mastered students will begin to learn more advanced strumming patterns and transitions between chords, along with how to read sheet music and tablature.

As part of my goal in life is that when I turned 60 I wanted to have something creative that would enrich and fulfill the latter years of my life. Having watched my aging father play piano was an image I have always appreciated. My father had been my piano teacher as a child and I was ready to get back into piano. I found Robert Hitz, my piano teacher, through TakeLesson.com. I have been taking piano lessons with Robert now for 10 months. Takelessons.com really made it easy to find Robert who was only 5 miles from my home.
It has been the best 10 months that was totally unexpected. What I didn’t experience as a child, that I do now, is I have a genuine love of music that feels inherently inside me. My father and son are both musicians and I now realize I must have a natural instinct for music and a love I never knew.
Robert has made the experience absolutely wonderful with his natural gift for teaching and making you feel totally at ease when you feel totally illiterate and lacking confidence. While I learned piano as a child, I totally lost the ability to read music or remember any scales, chords or composition.
Here is what’s great about Robert. You learn everything you need to learn, but in an unconventional style. He has taught me everything from chord progressions, scales, reading music and being able to totally improvise my own piano compositions. From understanding the basics, he has enabled me to just sit at the piano and make beautiful music that I create. My husband has been in total support and awe of how far I have come in the short 10 month time.
I work full-time and truly have little time to practice. Again, Robert has a total appreciation for the busy life of his students and works around the fact that you may come back each week with having had little to no time to practice the prior lesson. One of the best parts of my lesson is when Robert “drives” and I get to play along improvising to his music. He picks a scale and we just play together. I call it doodling on the piano and it is really awesome to feel so free to just listen and play along making beautiful music together. I walk out of every lesson feeling so elated and motivated knowing I am getting better and better. Practicing is pure pleasure and dramatically reduces the stresses of life and work.
I have a new appreciation for listening to music. I’m an avid power walker and now I listen to piano music while I walk. We fill our home with music and the stress levels just take a nose dive as soon as we put the music on. Listening to the intricacies of music has given me a total peace of mind that was unexpected and a true gift.
Robert has a great following of talented and gifted piano and voice students of all ages (children, teens, college students and adults up into their 80’s). We have been to several of his student concerts. One of my favorite venues is the Cabaret in Germanos Restaurant in Little Italy. Great food, great music and so much fun to get to meet and listen to all of Robert’s students. Robert creates concerts all year round with his students either at his home or in around town. Such a great way to meet new and really interesting people that are different from your usual crowd of friends.
If you are considering taking piano or voice lessons, go for it and meet Robert for yourself. I can’t say enough how great he is as a teacher and now a friend.

I am very pleased with what and how I'm learning from Nicole. She has a very positive and laid back approach to introducing new tools and techniques to my vocal growth and capabilities. With a solid musical foundation which she practices from, she is able to communicate very specific instruction to me in terms I understand and grasp quickly. Her style opens up the student to a freedom and willingness to take in concepts that will truly optimize their skill and vocal instrument. I am looking forward to all that I am capable of accomplishing under Nicole's direction."
