I have been a professional painter artist and musician for 10 years. I received my BFA from SMU in Fine Art and Painting and have exhibited my work in galleries, shows, exhibitions and sold it at auction. My teachers have included Steve Wilder, Barnaby Fitzgerald, Bill Komodore, Massimo Lippi, Jay Sullivan, and others.

Plein Air, Still Life, and Figurative works are my specialties, but I have also studied the development of the abstract language.

I'm also acquainted with old master mediums and techniques such as egg tempera, grinding pigments, etc.

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.

I teach all techniques of oil painting, from painting fast and loose to the style of the old masters'. I work with my students to identify their painting goals (I teach all levels and do not require any prior artistic experience!) and create a custom lesson plan to help develop their painting skillset. I teach the very basics of how to mix paints all the way to more complex portfolio reviews and critiques of painting concepts. I believe anyone can learn to paint when given the right tools! Let's get painting.

About Tori

I am a professional artist and musician in Chattanooga, TN! I have been teaching art and music for six years in California and Tennessee. I have been painting since I was big enough to hold a paintbrush and playing the harp for over 15 years. I have a degree from Stanford University in Art Practice

I can't recommend lessons with Tori highly enough!

I've been obsessed with oil painting, and every kind of 2D visual art, for as long as I can remember, but I never really believed in myself to do it until I worked with Tori.

My drawing, painting, and even my 3D work progressed more, and more quickly, working with Tori than they had in years

Thank you Tori!!!!
Lisa
My three boys (ages 11-15) loved working with Tori. We still have the block print-making pieces, paintings and charcoal drawings displayed in our kitchen. Their favorite project was creating plaster casts of their own faces. Tori is very thoughtful, patient and has a great zen energy. I highly recommend Tori!

"My family purchased photography lessons with Julie for me as a birthday present and I had a fantastic experience. Since I am mostly interested in bird and wildlife photography, Julie was kind enough to meet me at a local birding "hotspot" in Irvine and in an hour my skills improved tremendously with her assistance. No more over/underexposed shots, MUCH better detail in my photos and I learned to read and utilize a histogram properly. Highly, highly recommend.

Note: This site does not have an option for "outside location" so I was forced to select "Teacher's Location", but Julie was willing to meet me at a location I proposed."

"Our son Christopher has been passionate about art and illustration his entire life but with traditional art instruction had become incredibly critical of his inability to duplicate exactly what other instructors required of him. In that regard meeting Tim Long has been one of the biggest blessings for us. Tim has helped to re-build a foundation for a lifelong relationship with art. His teaching methods are creative, engaging and unlike traditional art instructors rather than coax or box-in a child's imagination he provides the freedom to explore artistic expression based on our sons perception of art. Christopher has begun to experience illustration on a completely different level thanks to Tim, learning that trial and error and problem solving are part of the process and over the past few months it has been a joy to see the artist in him blossom again!"

"Great teacher and a wonderful experience. My daughter loves to go to class and have lots of fun while learning new techniques.
Kids are actually exposed to various mediums. The really good part is you can also see older kids working on really good pieces of art, which is a very motivating for the younger ones. Personally Ms Maggie is very kind and gentle and a pleasure to know. I recommend any parent looking to enroll their kids into an art program to take them to her class and you WON'T regret it!"

"Pamela has twin strengths that contribute to an excellent class experience in my opinion. First of all, she has strong teaching skills and can instruct and guide a wide variety of individuals of varying levels of ability, age and background. This is more important than may be apparent - no one gets short changed. Secondly, she is one of the most creative people I know. She also has exquisite taste so the products she creates, whether it's a tart or a painting are in a class all their own. Highly recommended!"

"I've worked closely with Tim at a kids edutainment facility a few years ago. He's both a great leader and educator. He's always coming up with new and creative ideas to engage the kids and played a key role in the facility's success. My daughter would look forward to going in and learning different artistic techniques and other creative ideas from him, and i can proudly say that she auditioned for and was accepted into all of her magnet schools of choice using many of the techniques he taught her. Art has become her favorite subject, and she has a clear view of her career goals in this field, and i know Tim played a valuable role in her artistic development."
