A build-up of co2 in the blood is toxic and very dangerous to survival. When the heart has slowed down and not pumping normally, or if the heartbeat is erratic from afib, a build-up of co2 from lack of not getting enough oxygen to the brain and body becomes dangerous coupled with dementia. Cognitive impairment takes place when the brain is not receiving enough oxygen. Deep diaphragmatic breathing is necessary.
