I took mandolin lessons from Mr Sweet when I was a student at UMass Amherst. At that time, he was teaching at the Red Barn in Amherst. He's moved to a new location in Granby, MA and that's where you'll also find the Mandolin Orchestra and a few other great mandolin projects he's got going. Basically, I learned everything I know from this guy. Mostly about the mechanics of playing the instrument, but a whole lot about music theory related to the mandolin, history of the instrument and music and lots more. We were constantly going out to concerts and performing at local festivals and other places around the area. If you want to learn mandolin you really should think seriously about contacting Mr. Sweet.

Mandolin
The best teacher I have ever had

I am an adult who has never taken music lessons. My girlfriend gave me a mandolin for Christmas and I looked around online before I found Mr Sweet. As I live in Maine, I can't make regular lessons in person, so we do lessons online using Google+ Hangouts, which is really convenient for me. He's teaching me everything about playing the instrument, also how to improvise, play chords, some music theory, lots of music history. He's patient, kind and bolsters my self esteem with lots of positive comments and useful criticism. I recommend him to everyone I know that wants to play mandolin. I am now playing mandolin in a band!

Juliana K.

Broad Brook, CT

About Juliana

I, Ana, was born in a small town on the border of Quebec, Canada and Vermont, USA. At age 4, my mother began teaching me how to play piano. Since then, I've always enjoyed music. It's been my creative outlet. Throughout high school, I participated in competitions, concerts and master classes. After high school, I completed a two-year program at Vanier College, Canada in Classical Piano Performance. I've been teaching young children, teens and adults for 5+ years. Last year I left 18 students and my piano studio in Canada and move to CT to be with my husband. Now I'm looking to share my love of music with those around me here. Music is a part of everyone! We're never too old or too unlearned in music to express ourselves in this manner! I look forward to helping you become a better ...

My daughter was taking piano lessons with someone who came to my home each week. This teacher was not motivating, was inconsistent and was not concerned about my child's progress. Then I switched teachers. Juliana was bubbly and inspiring. She motivated my shy little girl to someone who has since loved playing the piano. She rewarded her, praised her and challenged her to do her best. Juliana cares about all her students and wants the very best for them. I give Juliana five stars because I really believe she is the best instructor ever.
