Toni H.

Simpsonville, SC

I am a highly motivated piano teacher with the experience of 35+ years of private lessons in my home. I enjoy teaching all ages and levels in many genres of music. Included in lessons besides learning beautiful pieces, are emphasis on technical skills, music theory, sight reading and improvising. I tailor lessons according to existing strengths and weaknesses. My students are equipped with the knowledge of how to practice at home! I record each lessons' assignments for the student to use at home to practice efficiently.

About Toni

I've studied and enjoyed piano since I was very young, having classical piano study as my musical foundation. As a student, my teacher had me participate in our area's Student Piano Proficiency Certification program up through all ten levels. Also, as a pre-teen, I started voice lessons and 'sang

She is kind, patient, and thorough in her teaching. She makes sure to explain why you use proper technique, not just telling you to do so. She helps you become a better pianist and love what you are learning. Would highly recommend for a beginner or an advance player. Started beginner level In June. Age 10.

Toni is very professional in how she conducts her lessons. She is very knowledgeable and skilled at teaching piano and shows a lot of patients and kindness. I find her very understanding and agreeable to our needs and she does an amazing job accommodating our special requirements. I find her prices to be reasonable and her scheduling to be practical.

My daughter has been taking lessons with Toni for several months now. This is her second piano teacher and the improvement we've seen from switching is just unbelievable. I love Toni's philosophy of teaching the kids to read music and all the fundamentals of basic piano chords and scales before they get into "fun music". I thought my daughter would not like it, but she loves the sense of accomplishment she feels when she can sight-read a piece of music just because of the time she has taken to work on the basics. If your child is serious about wanting to play piano, I think Toni is a fantastic choice!

I've been plying guitar for over 15 years and have taught privately for over 3. I prefer to teach basics (cowboy chords, fret board finger placement, rhythm/strumming) over leading with theory (scales, keys). I feel that an understanding of being a rhythm player before being to be a lead player is fundamental to any instrument.

About Charles

Hey - I'm Chuck! I've been playing music since I was about 11 years old and love teaching people how to enter into the world of music! If there's an instrument in a rock band you want to learn to play, I'll show you how to get started!

Jon is an excellent teacher. He has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to repertoire ideas for ALL voice types.

What I appreciate most is his sensitivity to your goals, and the fact that he is able to come up with a plan to reach said goals. He always has a clear idea in mind of the destination of each goal, while also being flexible and attentive to figuring out which exercises work best for each student's needs & levels.

He has a great ear, and is able to correct and answer vocal questions or concerns. I always appreciate checking in with him when I have a question or when I'm excited to celebrate when I've had a break through in vocal technique.

His love of music and helping students connect to their voices is evident. I'm proud to work with someone who not only has credentials from some of the top music schools & programs in the country, but is also eager to share this knowledge with each of his students.

You will work hard, but also have fun. He is generous in the way he helps each student learn to prepare their music (studying, learning, memorizing) and work on their technique.

Students at every level should reach out to Jon. Share your goals, work hard, and I hope you also experience of joy of growing as not only a musician, but also an artist, as a result of working with him.

"I briefly took up drums during college out of personal interest and Adam was an excellent teacher. Although I was nervous about beginning a new instrument as an adult, he made our lessons both comfortable and challenging. He was very accommodating. More than that, he always had something I could practice at home to hone my skills between lessons. This made our time together very productive. Still, my favorite thing about Adam was his sense of humor and his passion for drumming. His love for music is contagious and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to take up something new or even just improve their skills!"

"Once again Missy hits it out of the park with her coaching and teaching skills. She stretches me and challenges me whether it is a simple scale adding higher and lower notes to what I can't even think I can make or breath control that I know I will surely die from. With her practice regime I surprise myself that before too long I can hit those notes and not die singing with one breath. Thank you Miss Missy!"

"Aaron’s has been such a great teacher for my son – he is encouraging, optimistic, and a great listener. Aaron has been perceptive about what motivates Jasper and so he has found a great mix for each lesson of theory, technique, and fun exploration of new music concepts. He has adapted his style for where my son is on his learning journey so that he’s always moving forward and enjoying both practice and lesson time. From after the first day with Aaron he has always looked forward to going to his lessons. Since Aaron is an experienced and active professional musician, he shares what he knows is most important, practically and technically, across many music genres, and this suits my son’s curious nature. We feel really lucky to have found Aaron – he’s been positive, interesting, professional, friendly, and challenging. What else could you want in a teacher?"
