About Kristin

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

Both my daughters (ages 6 and 8) are taking piano lessons with Kristin. She is a great teacher: patient, encouraging, listens to the kids, and makes sure they enjoy the lessons. We hope to have lessons with her for the long run and highly recommend her for a positive music experience.

Kristin was such a wonderful teacher for our young daughter, Margaret! We had to move out-of-state and are struggling to find someone who can fill Kristin's shoes!

My daughter loves going to her. She is in tune with a pace that works well for my daughter.

Monika J.

Brooklyn, NY

Bgcheck Background Checked

About Monika

When music is done right,it transcends language and words. That is one of my favorite quotes. Being able to express yourself through singing is like a religious experience if done right.

My passion for music goes beyond the technical aspect, but rather the personal experience, and the personal connection. It is like taking listeners on a journey without visuals but just a melody. That is what I try to instill in my students.

I have a background in opera and gospel singing. I have a degree in music. I also taught children's choir at a public school as well at a church. I am currently the music director of my church, leading the musicians and praise team.

My goal is to teach students how to maintain and strengthen their voices metaphorically and physically. I have a set lesson plan for students that are offered weekly to studen

ts that will help with pitch, rhythm and breathing.

Along with the weekly lessons, I teach basic music theory as well as some music history to students. Students will learn songs from a set list of songs and will work on their own songs.

I've been with Monika over a year now. I've learned so much from her. She is an awesome teacher. Very patient and caring and is always building her knowledge and passing it on. She makes you feel so comfortable. I've always been afraid of singing in public but with her guidance and confidence building I was able to get up on a stage not once but twice and look forward to the next time. You can't go wrong with Monika as your coach. I would recommend her to anyone.

About Brody

Music has always been a huge passion of mine. I attended the Ohio State University, playing guitar in the Jazz program.

Most of my time is spent either composing and arranging songs for my online content, or performing in venues with my band. Performance is a huge part of my life, and I think learning to perform in front of a crowd is just as essential as learning the notes themselves. It builds character and helps to provide confidence to a person in lieu of nervous, anxious thoughts.

If there's one thing I would want to see more of in this world, it would be people performing what they love. I've always felt that music can create an unspoken bond between people that can't be felt through any other medium. That's why, more than anything, I want to be able to share my love and knowledge of music with as many people as possible so t

hat the world can become more harmonious.

We have mutual interest on songs and where I want to go and he has lots of patience
Which he will need with me as I master the guitar
September 23, 2017
Brody was there at my most important formative years as a guitarist. His ideas and methods took what I had learned on my own and helped me turn it into something cohesive and musical. I would highly recommend lessons from Brody.

Very patient and knowlegable dude. He was super nice and knows his stuff. Pretty hilarious too.

Ben Z.

New York, NY

About Ben

I’m Ben of BZ Drum Studio. I’m a professional drummer and educator. I’ve performed around the world, in Japan, China, South America, Europe, Canada, and across the US having worked with some incredible jazz musicians (Randy Weston, Johnny O’Neal, Larry Ridley, David Williams, Roy Hargrove, Joel Press, Cecil Bridgewater, Deborah Davis, Joe Cohn, Jerry Dodgion, and Steve Nelson).

I specialize in jazz but play and teach many genres on both drum set and percussion. I’m fascinated by the many drumming traditions around the world, New Orleans, Brazil, West/Central Africa, European Classical, Klezmer, Cuba, American Jazz, Folk, and Rock and Roll.

I have a B.M. and M.M. from Manhattan School of Music and have 10+ years of private teaching experience. I’ve taught percussion classes at public, private, and charter schools and also have cond

ucted jazz masterclasses at various universities around the country. My students have been regularly chosen for prestigious ensembles such as Jazz at Lincoln Center’s student ensembles, Manhattan School of Music pre-college and summer camp, and Columbia University’s jazz ensembles.

In lessons we focus on strengthening the fundamentals (time, sound, groove feeling) while also working on creativity and drum set language. I have a passion for teaching my students. Lessons are usually generously extended over the allotted time, and I take each student’s goals into account when tailoring the individual lesson curriculums.

April 21, 2019
I owe Ben a lot. I spent about a month taking lessons with Ben to prep for an audition for a university jazz program (I had zero experience playing jazz before this). Ben was one of the best music teachers I have ever had: he managed to get me prepared for my audition in just a few short weeks (I got into the program and had an incredible experience), and, perhaps more importantly, he taught me basic principles about jazz and jazz drumming that I think about constantly - not only when I am playing, but when I’m listening to jazz (which is most of the day, thanks to all the great recommendations from Ben). Ben is also an awesome dude, and has been described to me by random jazz dudes at FatCat as one of the “best drummers in New York right now.” If you’re looking for a drum teacher, Ben is without a doubt the best choice out there.
February 24, 2019
Ben is a talented drummer and an excellent educator: he really helped me improve as a musician. I highly recommend studying with him.
February 13, 2019
Having been a student of Ben's for three years, I am proud to say that he is the best drum instructor I've ever had. Ben's approach is tailored directly to the student's needs, whether they be introductory or advanced. He is always supportive and encouraging of you to perform to your fullest potential and actively practice what you learn between lessons, for which he provides useful activities. Ben is also generous with his time each lesson, frequently spending a little extra time to ensure your understanding of the material. He is always prepared to start teaching at the appointed time, and he is easy to contact to set up lessons and flexible with his availability.

Outside of lessons, Ben has often invited me to see him play in clubs around New York City and sometimes perform myself if there's room. This has given me the opportunity to engage with the jazz community and see what I've been taught being applied in professional settings. Taking lessons from and spending time with Ben has been a fulfilling experience, and I would strongly recommend him to drumming students of all ages and backgrounds.

Briana H.

Berkeley, CA

About Briana

I have studied the piano for over 10 years, playing a variety of genres, and have taken part in multiple piano auditions and received 90th percentile scores regarding practical piano playing and music theory. I have experience playing as an accompanist and teaching beginning piano students.

I am an avid believer that a strong foundation in technique, note reading, music theory, etc. can bring you very far in the process of learning piano. And it is exactly these foundational skills that I want to provide to all students. But not only that, I want to ensure that students will learn the skills necessary to eventually learn to play what they love!

As a previous piano student with financial struggles, I understand how difficult it is to want to pursue a passion, but struggling to because learning it was extremely expensive. And so, I want t

o provide lessons at reasonable prices that are lower than over half of other private teachers. In addition, I want to make sure my lessons are accessible to everyone, regardless of where you are, and so I will be teaching through online lessons to beginner/intermediate level students.

All in all, I have faith in everyone being able to learn the piano and I hope that I am able to be a helpful, supportive guide to those of you taking on this musical journey! I look forward to meeting you and helping you strive towards your passion for piano playing!

Music Reviews

"Hannah was a fantastic teacher- I was only able to be in LA for a short period of time but managed to have a very productive and useful singing lesson wit
h her. She was very personable and friendly, while able to pinpoint areas to focus on and gave me a lot of great techniques to work with to improve. I'd definitely return to lessons with her when I can."
"Adam was a great singing instructor, with an eclectic background of formal music theory training, instrument training from various celebrated professional
s, and performance experience in a variety of settings.

His training style is pretty laid-back, but he is also willing to go in-depth into music theory. While his training environment is modest but sufficient, he is a fantastic resource!"
"She is very professional and fun at the same time I am a vocalist been in the music business all my life decided to learn acoustic guitar to improve mysel
f to do future things my instructor Michelle has made me feel confident to go for my goal this was my first lesson but I feel its going to be a great investment if you're really ready to understand music I would suggest her teaching its great!!"
"Ben is a very good knowledgeable teacher."
"Ms. Rina is by far the best teacher I've ever had. She's very genuine in her work and very kind. She has a deep knowledge of music and she play's the pian
o absolutely beautifully. I highly recommend her for all ages that desire to learn the piano."
"For first class it was pretty good we want to continue attending and check the progress !"
"Murray has been our instructor for a few years. He is fantastic. He brings energy and enthusiasm to every lesson. He caters to the needs of our child w
ith caring patience and an pure love for drumming."
"I've been taking guitar lessons with Ahmad for almost two months and I must say I'm very happy with how everything is going.

I've been playing guitar f
or years (15+) and truly I had plateaued on my guitar skills and practice routines. My whole idea of taking classes was to mainly be able to improve my overall technique and pull out of the plateau.

In just a couple of months I have been able to start building upon the library of technique tutorials Ahmad provides and keep a constant practicing routine. Ahmad is smart enough as a teacher to keep me entertained and being able to still deliver good technical advise so that I can build up my skills, without growing bored or unaware of the classes.

His schedule is surprisingly open which is a big plus for me -- I usually work 'til 7-8pm.

I see a lot of people taking classes with Ahmad at the beginner level but even if you already have some experience I'd still recommend Ahmad.

Hope this helps \m/!"
"Ms. Lynzi is so amazing. She makes everything so easy when working with you. Over a short amount of time I've gotten better with my piano AND with my sing
ing. If she could she could get you to a broad way show. She is just the most amazing teacher. If you choose her your making the best decision."
