I studied Sitar with Allyn Miner who is in the lineage of Allauddin Khan, Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar. Raga theory is also essential to how I teach other genres of music such as the Blues. I can teach you about buying a Sitar and using it to play both Hindustani Classical and adaptations of other styles of music.

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. The first class was very good. We covered a good amount of ground. There's only so much an instructor can do during a first class as the teacher and student get to know each other, however, so I'm looking forward to future classes to get deeper into the lessons

Linda is a fantastic teacher. She makes learning a musical instrument fun.
During each lesson I learn a new tune. If I do not have a tune or song that I want to learn, then Linda suggests one. Each of her selections has been a gem. The tunes or songs that she suggests are those typically played in jams. At the end of each lesson, I have learned a new song or tune by heart. And, I am ready to attempt to play those tunes at a jam.
I am not certain where she gets all her patience -- but, it is infinite.

She was very encouraging and stretched my abilities while taking the lesson at a relaxing pace.

Steve is a great instructor. He's knowledgeable and patient. I'm a beginner mandolin player but more experienced at guitar. Steve knows the right approach and progression to my lessons, incorporating the experience I already have. Highly recommend!

Steve actually researched a style of play that he was unfamiliar with to teach me. Obviously a master musician, he analyzed the basics of the style and started from my baseline, teaching me the technique from the ground up. A dedicated and friendly teacher, I'd recommend him to anyone.

"As a singer/songwriter looking to improve my vocal chops, I needed to find someone that I could jump right in with and start improving right away. Benjamin provided me with a really comfortable environment and laid back teaching approach that has given me great confidence in myself as a performer.

From the great, useful warmups to the very insightful critiques, Benjamin has taught me a lot about my own voice and what I have to work with. I've improved drastically over the last few months, and his suggestions and ideas about how to approach various singing techniques are without a doubt the reason why.

I look forward to continuing my lessons with Benjamin, and I have very high hopes in myself as an artist after learning from him a great deal about what it takes to be a good singer!"

"Russell is a True Professional and brings a whole new meaning to Musicianship!

I've had a passion for music my entire life and have taken lessons with many different teachers. No one has come close to Russell's authenticity. He is Unique to say the least and extremely delicate in articulating step by step instructions on how to master guitar playing!

Just in a few lessons I'm already playing like a Pro! (at least I feel like one, haha) Never thought I would be playing with such ease!

I HIGHLY Recommend Lessons with Russell. Extremely Genuine, Patient and understanding of each individual student!

Thanks Russell!"

I was able to learn musical notes before attending the choir that makes it more exciting. He's assertive way to teach brings more joy and effectiveness to the class. "Mike is a very experienced and generous teacher. He has professional performing experience in all kinds of ensembles and styles from quintets to orchestras and from classical to jazz. He is an outstanding jazz musician and a good arranger and adapts pieces to make them playable for students of all ages and levels of ability. And Mike understands and values students of ALL abilities, including those with special needs. He taught music to students with disabilities in a New York school providing all kids a meaninful and challenging musical experience. I've done many gigs with Mike for many years and I have also been a student of his, although he would never say I was. We practice together weekly, regardless of where we are living, and I learn something every time we meet that helps me be a better player. Mike will make you a better player too!"

"Cant speak highly enough about Adam. I felt he went above and beyond for a guitar teacher. He challenged me to perform at an open mic fairly early (I couldnt play a full song before starting lessons) and took his own time to come support me. He teaches piano too and has a great understanding of music theory. This was big for me as music theory is fascinating to me. Our lessons were very relaxed and always left me excited to get home and practice more. My interest in guitar is fairly schizophrenic and I like to change focus all the time to cover as much ground in our precious weekly hour. Adam did a great job working with my idiosyncrasies and taught me a great amount in the few months we had lessons. (I moved out of town)"
