Hello, my name is Tal and playing the violin has been my biggest passion since 2001. For the past several years teaching has became one too, and I would love to work with you and help you reach your musical goals.
During the lessons, I will do my best to make the learning experience as productive, fun and challenging as possible. Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, we will work on your technical abilities, finding your own musical ideas and how to make them really come out (which is the best part, of course!). An additional value that comes with studying a musical instrument is the development of your problem solving skills: if you want to practice productively, you must ask yourself the right questions, and then use the knowledge you have to come up with solutions. During our lessons, you will find yourself asking and answering questions, so you are as prepared as possible to be an independent violinist.
I look forward to working with you!

About Tal

I began my violin studies in 2001. As I grew up, I continued my studies at Thelma Yellin School of Arts and later on at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music. Nowadays I study at the Juilliard School and also serves as a Teaching Fellow at the Ear Training Department of Juilliard. For the past several

"My 11 year old daughter has had 3 lessons with Jill now. We love her! She is knowledgeable, approachable, and not only KNOWS the violin, but understands how to TEACH the violin. Jill has a way of infusing humor and lightheartedness into her lessons, while simultaneously teaching concepts and skills integral to building the foundation to great violin playing. My daughter looks forward to her lessons every week and is motivated to practice. Jill is a true pro at what she does and I feel lucky to have found her."

Piano Tips and Techniques: Playing Glissandos

There are many musical terms that you will hear when learning to play any instrument, and the piano is no exception. You probably started off with terms related to tempo, such as largo and allegro, and progressed accordingly. You will learn new terms at every level, so maybe you have already heard the word glissando. Even if you haven’t heard of the term, you probably have heard a glissando in music. For example, Jerry Lee Lewis’s song "Great Balls of Fire" uses glissandos. Derived fr …
