Assistant Professorship, at Bowling Green State University whereby I took classes to earn my Masters degree  while teaching Beginning & Intermediate Guitar classes, Jazz improv & soloing classes, as we as supervising a variety of ensembles ranging from Big Band to smaller groups (sextets, quintets, quartets etc.) in a variety of genres. One of which went on to tour & play professionally for 3 yrs.

Played the Blues Circuit in Chicago Il. For  Blues Grammy award winning artists Such as Koko Taylor. & Lefty Dizz.
Taught beginning & Intermediate guitar classes at Northwestern University inEvanston Il.

Taught part time for 15 yrs at The Berns Suzuki Music School Academy in Las Vegas
Toured nationally & Internationally with a variety of groups & artists including    “The Village People”, “The Coasters”. & many more.

Played in a variety of Las Vegas Shows my Own Bands doing corporate events lounges & Casino show rooms opening up artists such as Kenny Logins.At The "C.M.A. " &  the "B.M.A." awards shows in "Las Vegas" Nv . I just relocated to the Henderson area. I have been banging out cowboy chords on a guitar for years, but recently got my first electric and a burning desire to learn some lead, blues, CW riffs and better technique, knowledge and command of the fret board. After interviewing and meeting with 4 other teachers, I am happy to report I chose Jeff. Jeff knows his stuff, is prepared, is respectful of my time and efforts, is knowledgeable about music, music theory, guitar technique and can effectively transfer his knowledge to a student in the way that particular student learns. All while having fun! Prior to my first lesson Jeff asked me for examples of what I'd like to learn. At my first lesson he had a notebook prepared with fundamental technique for me to practice, music tabbed out that I had mentioned, and a lot of good material for me to practice. I was playing some cool stuff immediately. My wife was surprised not to hear the usual from me when I got home. Jeff is knowledgeable in all forms of guitar - classical to heavy mental.  I chose Jeff for his skill and knowledge, his approach to teaching and for what seemed would be a fun learning experience. I chose well and I can comfortably commend Jeff Colvin to anyone wishing to learn and improve on the guitar.

Jeff has been teaching my son for several months. He is a great teacher. Jeff is very knowledgeable and has helped my son grow by leaps and bounds in very short amount of time. We will continue to take lessons from Jeff for a long time.

Jeff is very knowledgeable about various types of guitar styles. My preference is jazz and he is helping me greatly. My playing is improving steadily and my knowledge and theory study has improved. So, the bottom line is I play much better and know a lot more as well. Jeff is a very capable teacher for a mixture of people and various styles of guitar as well. I would rate him as being excellent as a guitar instructor whether you are playing for fun or are serious about a career.

Jeff's love and passion for music are awe-inspiring. He hears and feels the vibrations and sounds that radiate from each of the strings when a particular chord is played. If you are an impatient beginner like me, you will want to be playing at the Grand Ole Opry after two lessons. Realistically, you won't be Nashville-ready after just two lessons. However, in an effort to nurture your stage dreams, Jeff records in-session videos that serve as extra instruction until the next lesson. The in-session videos are a review of the day's lesson and they are great for practicing on your own. Jeff goes above and beyond to accommodate his students. He researches the genre or type of music of interest along with pertaining artists and he tailors the sessions accordingly. Simply put: Jeff Colvin is a rockstar of an instructor.

Jeff is a very good teacher, very patient. He always has good lessons and materials ready for our class. He records a video of what we are working on that week, so I dont forget and can practice on my own. I have learned to play rock, folk, and some contemporary Mexican. Definitely recommend. 5 stars.

Jeff is a very diversified and organized instructor. He's taught me some classic rock, alternative, blues and even some mexican pop. No matter what type of genre you want to learn or what level you can play he can do it all. Would definitely recommend to anybody wanting to learn guitar.

Weekly I challenge  Jeff to teach me a song by ear.  Jeff has the ability to translate songs into simpler methods making them  fun and simple to play.  Jeff is more than a teacher he is my musical therapist.  I would highly recommend him to players of all skill levels.

Been learning Classical guitar with Jeff a couple years now and cant believe how much fun its been. His background as a successful performer, as well as his formal music education, give him a really good approach to teaching. He puts a lot of thoughtfulness into our lessons. Never boring.
