William plays an eclectic mix of Americana ranging from blues, swing, folk, and jazz. Early in his music career, he focused on blues artists from the ‘50s and ‘60s such as Nina Simone and B.B. King. He transitioned to playing folk/rock such as James Taylor and The Band. The result is a guitar player and vocalist with an eclectic style of off-beat swing with engaging musical progressions.

I focus on teaching proper techniques to give you a lifetime of enjoyment playing the songs you love. Beginning students learn posture, how their guitar works, fundamental picking, and strumming skills. Intermediate students get lessons on chord progressions, applying scales over chord progressions, and repertoire building.

At the end of each class, students will have work to focus on during the week to prepare to demonstrate the following week. Knowing what you need to practice is a key part of my lessons!

This is Guitar Drill #17. Please do #15 and #16 if you haven't done them yet. This drill uses hammer-ons and pull-offs which were covered in those drills.

In this drill, we're using both hammer-ons and pull-offs! Take your time and go slow. Try to make things as clean and as even as possible.

This is Guitar Drill #16. This one introduces pull-offs. This is similar to Guitar Drill #15. So, if you haven't seen that one yet, please take a look at it! Please go slow on this one. We're looking for accuracy. Try to make all the notes sound the same.
