About Jimmy

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring my own guitar and amp

*** Specialties ***
I am fluent in every possible style. At some point I have performed in every type of band and expose my students to many different styles and techniques. I recently got off tour with a country band from Nashville, but have performed jazz, metal, rock, blues, soul, classical, fusion. I specialize in those students who really want to put in the time to seriously learn their instrument, but if you want to have fun just playing by the campfire that's cool too. I'm cool, laid back and love a good laugh. I have taug
ht hundreds of students on all levels and styles over the years and to answer your question yes anyone can play if they invest the time needed to learn and yes you are gonna have clumsy fingers from the start. lol

After a month studying under Jimmy my guitar skills have skyrocketed. I didn't realize how much I was stuck on a plateau until I compare recordings from a month ago. Jimmy has assisted me in reaching new levels of lead guitar and knowledge of theory so that I am now playing lead roles and improvising beyond what I thought capable. I have the technique, skills and self confidence to take lead with my band, and my fellow band members have all asked what my secret has been in my phrasing and solo's; the secret is simple a great instructor and structured practice. Now my practice time is much more productive. Jimmy really understands how to custom teach and improve weaknesses I was unable to even understand without his help. Thanks Jimmy for helping me reach new goals and my true potential.

After 2 lessons with Jimmy I have improved on my overall technique and cleaning up my tones as well increased speed; more progress than past two months. Jimmy is extremely knowledgeable and takes you to the next level. If you listen to his instruction and do the practice time you will improve. I'll be so much more prepared for my next gig. Thanks Jimmy!

About Douglas

Originally from New York City, I started playing drums when I was 10 years old and studied with studio/Broadway drummer Roger Mancuso. After graduating from Ohio University, I studied and was managed by the famous studio drummer/author Gary Chester. As a full-time working musician I have played on many national commercials, Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway shows. I was signed for three years to Carrere Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros./Reprise Records. I have toured Europe and most of the USA with acts such as Luther Allison, Johnny Winter, Big Bill Morganfield, Bo Diddley, Joey
Dee, Gary US Bonds, Zoot Sims, Jeremy Steig, Bobby Lewis, Alex Chilton (From The Box Tops), Eddie Brigati (From The Young Rascals), Johnny Rivers, Little Anthony (From The Imperials) and many more.

I also founded the Columbus, Ohio band The Drifter Kings. Whose debut CD, "Diamonds On The Desert Floor", was produced by Alligator recording artist Michael Hill. The CD was nominated by the Blues Foundation of Memphis, Tennessee as a top-5 finalist at the 2011 International Blues Challenge and has been receiving airplay on stations across North America, South America, and Europe as well as being honored as a €œpick to click€ on Sirius/ XM€™'s B.B. King€™s Bluesville€. It was also featured as a winner of Blues Revue Magazine'€™s €œSponsor the Bands Contest€ in the May/ June 2011 issue.

I have been teaching since 1978 and many of my students have gone on to pursue professional music careers. I am a very well-rounded musician and teacher, experienced in many aspects of musical training and performance. I have worked with every age level, from the beginner to advanced student, in one-on-one as well as classroom settings. I am patient and will bring out the best in my students. Brad is an excellent piano teacher. I have watched him guide my 9-year-old son over a two year period. My son know has a strong musical foundation in piano he can apply to other instruments. Brad has a very relaxed and calm demeanor. He guides students in a subtle way, so they take ownership of their learning and maintain motivation. Most importantly, Brad's personality creates a stress-free learning environment. This is crucial for children to maintain a love and passion for music. Brad is very encouraging, warm and cares about the students he teaches. I highly recommended him to parents who want to instill a love of music in their children!

Our son has taken piano lessons from Mr. Allen for 3 years. He started when he was 6 years old. Mr. Allen uses praise to motivate and gives feedback in a manner that inspires our son to improve. He also encourages creativity and will work with song material that interests our son. Our son continues to love playing the piano and feels a great sense of accomplishment with the skills he has developed under Mr. Allen's guidance. I highly recommend Mr. Allen as a music instructor.

Szu-Yu is very knowledgeable and skilled, everything stated about her is correct. I am very please that she is willing to work with me and discuss how I play, I am almost 60 years old and can play some. She is not judgmental but very positive and encouraging. She is not intimidated by my age, (my daughter is older). She knows her stuff and is very confident.
We meet at a practice facility in a college, that is fun and interesting.
My money is being well spent and I am learning things that should help me to grow and enjoy the piano, and possible reach a personal goal to be able to play at church.
