About Elissa
I am a preschool, elementary, and middle school art teacher and an accomplished artist. I have experience teaching all ages explore creativity while learning to paint and draw. I believe every individual no matter the age, experience, or inherent ability can learn to draw and paint! I can teach any artistic style, whether it be portraiture, wildlife, landscapes, anime, abstract, or mixed media.

Lessons are structured by meeting a student’s goal while building a strong foundation in the medium of preference and familiarizing one’s self with the elements of art, principle of design, and the color theory. Students will have simple step-by-step instructions that break an image down into basic lines, shapes, and layers coupled with visual examples. Children will focus on solidifying their artistic strengths while learning artistic technique
s in every aspect of art, young adults will strengthen their art portfolio with visual art tools, and adults will rekindle their passion for art by revisiting the foundations of art.

I look forward to unlocking your or your child’s creative potential and strengthening existing talent with artistic techniques! Lessons are offered in-person at my studio just outside of Boston or online. I look forward to hearing from you!

*Attention: If you or your child has cat allergies, I own a cat. Depending on the severity of your allergies, I am flexible to confining the cat to one room during our in-person lesson.

My daughter had her first drawing lesson today. Elissa was great - she was very kind and patient. In a quick half hour, she was able to draw a hand, with lots of detail and shading and taught her all about drawing pencils. We will be back!

I've observed Elissa teaching and she is wonderfully compassionate, patient, and warm with children. She's also incredibly passionate and talented about art and has an excellent way of helping children unlock their creative potential. Her teaching style is loving while balanced with great expectations. She is very professional and as an educator and parent myself, I wholeheartedly recommend her.

I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.

About Amber
I am a professional freelance artist, and owner of Leola Studios. I have been doing custom artwork for over 15 years, and have several contract jobs with businesses on my resume. I have an Associates Degree in Fine Arts/Animation from Academy of Art University.

I specialize in photo realism, and 90% of the private commissions I get are portraits. However, I work in a broad range of styles and mediums, from line work to abstract to sketch, with charcoal to paint to clay. I love expanding my knowledge and trying new things, but above all I love creating!! I feel that imagination and expression through art/music/literature are crucial to a person's development, and this is something I pass on to my daughters, and frequently fundraise for, in an attempt to keep art programs in our schools.

I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledg
e, so after having so many people ask me to show them how to draw, I began teaching. I've taught one on one, and classes large in size. I have also taught young children, up to age 98! I am very patient and don't mind a slew of questions! I want to help students become the best at their craft.

Art is my passion and so important in our world, with proven benefits! I'd like to think with teaching, I'm helping to keep it alive, even if just in my small way.

I have known Amber many years and can attest to her artistic capabilities. I have sat in on two of her painting classes; she was great at walking us through the piece step-by-step, and was very patient with all our questions. She laughed with us and made it fun! I would recommend her to anyone and look forward to learning from her again!

About Carlos
Almost all my work is inspired by Contemporary Realism; Heavily influenced by classical realism and hyperrealism. My favorite technique is the oil on canvas, the genre that I practice most often is the Still Life, because of its infinite compositional and pictorial possibilities. As for my paintings, it is common for me to use elements that go unnoticed, some marbles, a piece of Kraft paper, glass goblets, a Rubik's cube, seemingly insignificant but chromatically interesting pieces of wood and metal with organic textures or created by the human being, who pose a challenge to be accurately represented for any painter. Currently my work focuses on the main elements of the composition, accompanied by neutral backgrounds, with the aim of the viewer fix their eyes on these pieces. My goal, like that of every painter of the realist genre, is to
follow the long road of technical perfection, this is certainly a utopian goal and may sound like something very pretentious, but, constantly improving in every aspect of life is not a Bad habit, although I have many defects, being conformist is not one of them.

Biography.
Carlos Bruscianelli is a Realist painter born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1980. Since 2000, he began studies in Civil Engineering at the Central University of Venezuela, but his artistic interest induces him to take classes in realistic painting at the Museo Tessari - Rizzo, where he specializes in the techniques of oil painting on canvas and soft pastel. Finally, Carlos Bruscianelli suspended his engineering studies dedicating himself completely to his artistic production.

At the Tessari - Rizzo Museum he began his training as an artist in 2004 and culminates in 2011, during that period, he participates in the annual Salon in multiple opportunities, obtaining two honorable mentions. Simultaneously he participated in the annual hall of Faber Castel, being finalist in four consecutive opportunities and obtaining two honorable mentions, also in the Salon Juan Lovera he manages to be finalist in 2012.

In 2008, for the first time, he exhibited his work at the prestigious Dimaca Gallery, then at the renowned LPG Gallery in his hometown. Starting in 2014 he began the process of internationalization of his work, specifically in the cities of Miami and New York.
