I received my first pair of ballet slippers at the age of 4, a gift from my mother, Nilufer, one of Turkey's earliest ballerinas (in fact, she was trained by Turkey's first ever ballerina Dame Ninette de Valois.) I have spent the last 14 years teaching classical ballet and contemporary dance to students of all ages and skill levels. Join me for a ballet class where we’ll work on stretching, body alignment, the 5 basic ballet positions, general ballet theory, and a healthy dose of exercise including plies, tendus, jetes, rond de jambe at terre and en’lair, fondus, releves and grand battements. These simple and straightforward combinations will improve coordination, mental focus, and self confidence, all of which are essential to dance! We’ll dance to a diverse playlist (not just classical!) and have fun connecting with our bodies and pushing ourselves to do more.
* Classes are open to any age, body form and experience level!
* Prior ballet and or dance experience is not required!
I spent almost my whole life focused on classical ballet, attending dance camps over summer break, and doing intensive dance workshops with Martin Sonderkamp and others. After high school, I was accepted into Turkey's most prestigious conservatory, Mimar Sinan, where I expanded into contemporary da
