Do you have an audition or performance coming up for a competition, scholarship, school, etc? The techniques a vocalist uses in a choir can differ from the techniques she/he uses as a soloist. Let me help you succeed in this venue by teaching you proper, healthy techniques, what choir directors are looking for, improving musicianship and more. Let me help you find and improve your voice!

About Kimberly

I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam an

I have been working with Kim for a few weeks and I have learned a tremendous amount and can hear the difference every week as I progress. I enjoy the process she applies to keep it positive and fun yet learn the proper fundamentals required to perform well. I actually tried a few vocal teachers and Kim with her wisdom and experience made it simple who to go with!!

Ensures one has a strong foundation of violin knowledge. Patient and kind. Love this instructor!

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

I help students sing on pitch, blend their voices, read music, pronounce English and foreign languages, and sing fast running passages easily and clearly.

I have helped my students prepare for high school choir auditions and continue to help them learn their music, improve their singing skills, and audition and prepare for solo appearances with their choirs and in school productions.

I have been a professional choir section leader and soloist in landmark churches for over 30 years. I have also sung in amateur choirs from 16 members up to 150. Recently I have sung with the University Choir in Sacramento and currently sing with the prestigious Capella Antiqua. I soloed in professional performances of Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Mendelsohn's Elijah, Bach's St.Matthew Passion, Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Bach's Jauchzet Gott, Brittain's Ceremony of Carols.Saint Saens's Christmas Oratorio

I received about 10 lessons from JoAnn and feel very good with the results. I started playing guitar and singing in a small band and knew that I needed help. Joann educated me with many warm up lessons, a good start on reading music, and numerous exercises towards reaching pitch that will also save my vocal chords from harm. It's up to me to practice and use the available tools that JoAnn has introduced me to while I take a break from lessons while traveling. JoAnn is a professional singing teacher.

She is great! My daughter really enjoys her lessons and we appreciate how thorough JoAnn is.

JoAnn is a very patient and kind teacher. In the last few lessons I've had, she has taught me more than Ive learned with my previous teacher of 8 years. She is very understanding and teaches her students everything we need to know to be a good vocalist. I would highly recommend her.
