I had a huge coincidence by having a lesson with Kai in the Bay Area. He and I have the same point of view about learning drawing that helps me to understand his tips and instructions. It is a true pleasure to be his student, I was feeling like I’m detective who’s seeking for tips and clues and try to transfer all of that onto the paper. Also he is really good by explaining how to see simple shapes and figures in every object, how to extend an imaginary line and keep angles which did and will help me to draw more consciously. Highly recommend him anyone who wants to improve its drawing and painting skill.

Kai is an excellent instructor and has left a tramendious mark on me as both a student and an artist. Kai may be young, but he has knowledge beyond his years through skill and ambitiously being self taught he has been commended on nationally. Kai in the fall attended FACE and was recently awarded a certificate of excellence from The Portrait Society of America. I very grateful to have worked with him and been walked through his very informative and beautiful demos. Crique from Kai is wonderful and facilitates vast and constructive improvement in skill level. Would highly recommend Kai!

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! I have been an artist for my whole life and I am passionate about sharing my love of creativity with others. I earned an MFA in Costume Design from UCLA in 2007 and have been a freelance costume designer, college professor, photographer, illustrator, and jewelry designer.

As much as I love to create, what I really love is to help somebody learn to do something they love and create something they can be proud of! I am happy teaching all ages, and I specialize in helping each student find his or her unique vision.

I can teach sewing by hand and on a machine, including how to read and understand the instructions in commercial patterns. Bring your project and I'll help you make it happen! I am highly skilled at teaching life drawing, as well as marker rendering and watercolor fashion illustr
ation. Photography is my other passion, and I look forward to helping you understand how to use a camera's many features, and your eye, to create art.

About Dennis
Hello, my name is Dennis Willoner.

Music and art have always been a huge part of my life. I have been playing drums for 15 years and have been teaching for 7. I grew up learning to play drums from a private instructor, and have been studying on my own ever since. I have played in many bands in my music career and have also tracked drums in studios for local artists. Today, I currently work at School of Rock in Palo Alto as a private and group instructor, and play in a professional band called Constructs.

I have been drawing ever since I can remember. I mostly draw realistically, but also like to get on the creative side. I enjoy drawing faces and people the most out of any subject. After learning so much about art, the world can be viewed in a complete other perspective.

My son is a beginner in drawing and is a bit apprehensive about his drawing skills. I really appreciated and liked Margarita's approach, setting music to create a relaxing atmosphere for drawing, explaining the steps, and the foundation for sketching. I think we approached drawing wrongly and after the lesson I changed our way. We play music now (which he likes) and he is drawing more often and is more relaxed.

About Alexander
I have been playing music for 25 years.
During this time, I focused mainly electric bass and the Acoustic Guitar. I play rhythm guitar in a very busy World Fusion Flamenco Gypsy Jazz band, based in the SF Bay Area. I have learned a sure way to develop the building blocks for playing music. A way to practice and retain the information that you want to learn and quickly advance in your musical passion. I personally use these techniques and want to share them with you. Through patience and determination I will help you discover how to practice, develop technique and then enjoy and play music. I will answer your questions about your guitar from the simple to complex.
If you want to learn Gypsy Jazz, chords, rhythm and technique, how to play Blues, Rock, Funk or Reggae, or how to read chord charts and tablature, I want to help.
I am alwa
ys excited to work with beginners, so if you are very new to your instrument we can discuss the geography and mechanics of it as well. We will start with the basics then build upon ideas that will give you a holistic understanding of the guitar and how to play music.

"Practice makes perfect" but you need to know "what" and "how" to practice, too make the most of your time.

I would not say that it is easy to learn how to play music or play guitar but that it is completely worth the time that you devote to it.

Music, is a gift that will always give back, you give it to yourself and then share it with your friends and loved ones.
Music, you will have it for life.

Check out the music that I play.

I love looking at art, reading about art and making art!

Art heals and the creation of it is I believe, empowering. My current practice is an expanding body of drawn and painted works that explore form through geometric, abstract, sculptural and musical languages.

From an early age, I grew up learning about art by watching my mother create. I loved the freedom and challenge that it provided me when I was young and over time have come to evolve and develop my own practice and language as an adult. In addition to art I am a Violist, Sound Designer and Composer and feel very strongly that the work I do visually has deep roots in sound and music.

Education:

Interlochen Arts Academy (Focus in Viola) 1995
Oberlin College (BFA Viola and Art) 2000

Upcoming Shows 2019:

From There to Here. (Jun 22 - Jul 27) - Sara Lisch Gallery

Ollie is an excellent, supportive, and friendly teacher! This is my first time using TakeLessons, and I enjoyed my time spent with Ollie. He was able to give me technical guidance, but also allowed me to play around. I appreciate that he was able to customize my lessons with my personal goals, and even suggest local art I may be interested in. I booked a 1 hour session, and the time flew by! He also allows you to use his brushes and paints the first session, and then gives recommendations for paints/brushes based on your skill level and budget. Looking forward to booking my next lesson. Highly recommend.

About Angela
As a professional artist, I have exhibited in 30 exhibitions including in Europe. I most recently worked as a photographer, artist and writer on a documentary in the American West featuring artists working to save wild horses. I also was the director of an art program in Santa Barbara that taught the arts to over 500 youth for ten years.

I am a long time teacher with a Ph.D. My dissertation was a research study looking at the value of the arts in education. I often work on projects nationally as a contributor for various non profit causes that use the arts to bring attention to various worthwhile issues.

After 25 years of teaching in many settings, including a university, an arts project, and at both private and public schools as well as giving private lessons, it has been my experience that art is a skill that anyone can learn with su
pport. Picasso was absolutely correct when he said " Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up!"

I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from University of California at Santa
Barbara, A Master's degree in Organizational Non Profit Management and a Ph.D. in Human Development. All of my work and studies have involved art, photography and writing and often non-profit causes.

I teach students from all levels of art experience, from those who have never attempted to draw, to students who have many years experience looking to exhibit their art or make a living from it, I also teach art history in a fun way that helps you learn from painters who have created styles that help artists learn ways to improve their own work. I consider sharing my love of the arts a privilege!

I have taught many “so-called” Non- Artists to draw and paint and sculpt and have encouraged many others with art experience who are longing to further or start their art careers.

All that said, the most important thig I have to pass along is my personal LOVE of art and my commitment to encouraging others to find their own gift of creative expression! My art students do NOT need special skills or talents just a willingness to want to express themselves! Art is a funny thing, the more you enjoy it and learn it in a relaxed way, the better your actual art turns out when you make it. Hope to meet you and teach you soon!
