You certainly have many options available regarding choosing a guitar instructor, but I have to assume that you would like to hire the most qualified teacher to guide you on the journey. ¡Hablo Español! I Teach All Ages, at All Levels: Guitar (electric, acoustic, Spanish, slide), Songwriting, Music Theory, Composition Lessons, Arranging for Horns and Voice and Strings, Soloing, Improvisation, Classical Technique, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin, Funk, Country, Folk, Hindustani, Carnatic, and much much more! I've studied the masters and will break it down easy to show you how to emulate them to create your own unique voice using the vocabulary and grammar that all musicians use all the time! Improvisation, killer solos, and theory are my specialties. I have a deep connection to The Blues – I played with the legendary New Orleans pianist Champion Jack Dupree and also gigged with Delta Bluesman Jonny Shines (Robert Johnson's best buddy). Regards Jazz and Music Theory, I am a credited contributor to the #1 best-selling Jazz theory book "Jazzology" (published by Hal Leonard - the world's largest music publishing company), and author of my own Music Theory book "Modalogy" (also published by Hal Leonard). I am the author of: “Scales & Modes for the Guitar Fretboard” This revolutionary book is an in-depth study guide for those who wish to further their understanding of guitar scales in an intelligent and orderly manner. All the essential western scales and modes are mapped out on the fretboard in easy-to-remember patterns that are perfectly logical, and – most importantly - 100% practical. The descriptive use of color throughout enables the player to most clearly and graphically envision the differences and similarities between related scales and sections of scales. These are shown in various configurations designed to highlight the intervallic relationships and repetition of fragments between groups of strings. The exposition of fretboard systems presented in this handbook graphically demonstrates how simple mastery of scales and modes can be via the internalization of just a few basic positions and their repeating combinations. I have also written the following two studies for Jazz guitar: 1. soloing: “Jazz Guitar Arpeggios” (2016) 9ths thru 13ths with all alterations, plus rootless 251 soloing! The object of this book is to achieve, in the absolute shortest time possible, muscle memory mastery of the gestures necessary to visualize and internalize the jazz arpeggios on guitar in order to facilitate playing them melodically. The contents of this book include: treble clef staff notation, number tablature, fretboard grids w/ degrees, functional chord symbols, rootless progressions, jazz soloing examples 2. comping “Chordalogy: Tonal II-V-I Progressions for the Jazz Guitarist” (2012) As a thesaurus of chordal options available to the comping jazz guitarist, this book is an in-depth study of optimum voice leading motions using drop-2 and drop-3 voicings for the variations on the ubiquitous major and minor II-V-I progressions - yielding fluid and cohesive accompaniments. Everyone moves further, much faster, and is more likely to stay engaged by learning from a master teacher with decades of real-world professional experience to share. I hope to hear from you soon! Thanks, Jeff Brent

People study subjects for a great number of reasons, consequently I customize my lessons to each individual student's needs and wants. We learn different ways. Some of us are more visual, some more tactile, some more intuitive, some more cerebral, etc. Understanding this allows me to adapt to each person's most natural mode of learning so that the material is grasped more easily (therefore more quickly), and so that it is retained longer. I would be honored to share my experience and knowledge with you.

It was a great first lesson with Jeff. He gave a clear and interesting introduction to what I was to learn. Jeff was patient and adjusted quickly to my learning needs. Can’t wait for our next class!
