Conduct Classical or Marching Band Music with Passion and Precision!

If you're a student looking to win a drum major audition, OR you're a young music director hungry to refine your craft - I can help! My job includes teaching Marching Band and our top Wind Ensemble. My bands have won Outstanding in Class at many of the top festivals in the state. I've rehearsed neighboring bands to prepare for contests, and served twice as a Middle School Region Band Clinician! I've also mentored first year directors and a student teacher to success! Most directors send their drum majors to summer camp. I train my own! These students go from having never conducted, to confidently leading their peers in performances across the state! Some have won Outstanding DM Captions! Trying out for Drum Major? Want to do more with your conducting? I can help! Concert conducting offers endless possibilities for artistic conducting. Growing as a conductor requires developing great fundamentals, while expanding your ability to express musical details! We can develop your conducting vocabulary to communicate a wide range of nuance while eliminating visual clutter! Young music directors - Rehearsal time is precious! Learn to maximize that time so that your ensemble can mesmerize audiences! Topics can include music selection, rehearsal planning, score study, interpretation, recognizing individual and ensemble issues, best rehearsal strategies, and more!

I LOVE teaching music, and I LOVE the tuba! I've been playing tuba for nearly 30 years, and teaching privately and as a band director for 15+ years. I was a two time TMEA All-Stater, and the principal tubist at Angelo State University for two years. I have twice served as a Middle School All-Region Band Clinician, and am regularly invited to help neighboring bands with their contest prep. In recent years I've also successfully mentored a few first year teachers and a student teacher! My memberships include the Texas Music Educator's Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, Young Band Directors of Texas, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. Private lessons changed my life - no joke! In 10th grade, I still didn't know name notes, key signatures, under blew, and lacked advanced rhythm skills. My first lesson teacher changed ALL of that, and it changed the trajectory of my life. That's why I love private lessons. In a one on one setting, can give you the specific feedback you need. I want you to leave every lesson feeling like you "leveled up!" I've coached well over 100 students grades 7-12 to the All-Region Bands, and dozens of students to the Area level and a few to the All-State Band. Other preps included Solo & Ensemble, college music program auditions, band camp auditions, and more! Outside of band, I am happily married with two school aged kids. We're a band family! We have a small dog, a cat - both quirky and cuddly. We enjoy watching anime, and in my free time I enjoy weight training and gaming on my PC or with my kids. I love helping students find success on their instrument, and seeing them mature into not just great players, but expressive musicians who can communicate emotions through their performance. Would you like to get awesome at tuba? Let me help you get there! It would be an honor - and a lot of fun!

Chris C. was an incredible find! He exceeded all expectations, offering excellent communication and extra resources for my daughter, a tuba player. His pre-lesson meeting showed dedication to understanding her goals. We're so grateful for his help––Chris's lessons built her confidence and skills, ultimately helping her achieve her dream of joining her collegiate marching band. I highly recommend Chris C. to anyone seeking a music teacher!
