I have been playing guitar and bass in blues, classic rock, country, and RnB bands for 20 years. I have been teaching at the Norfolk School of Music for 10 years.  I love playing gigs, teaching, jamming, learning songs and riffs from CDs, and will continue doing all this if I win the lottery , or get rich from music. My main influences for lead guitar are Freddy King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and many others. I love playing rhythm guitar, especially with a good drummer, and I teach that as that is what you are doing most of the time

You must know the Freddy King style,  major and minor pentatonic scales, you must know both. Clapton is mostly pentatonic. By copping MANY solos I've cracked the code on pentatonics. If you only know the minor,,,, it's time time to go to the next level. And if you are strong with both pentatonic scale, next is Dorian (Santana). Also blues rhythm guitar, what you are doing most of the time. Many hot lead players, being a great rhythm player will have you win the audition. The singer will love you. And, you must have good/great vibrato, bend that note up an make it sing, really say something. There is a best way to do this and you will want to add it to your practice routine. You'll be glad you did, and so will the people listening.
