Andrew is a great teacher! I love that he really thinks outside the box. He thinks of creative ways to teach and connect with students. His recitals are awesome! Because he's such a great encourager, I've always found that his students try their best. It's pretty cool to watch him interact with each student!

That's ultimately what I value so much about Andrew, he really cares for his students. I would recommend Andrew to anyone. They will not be disappointed!

Andrew has been a key part of our worship team at Faith Community Church for over 10 years. He is always a delight to work with and is able to connect with others on a positive personal level.

Andrew's skill level is unmatched and when you couple that with his heart for music and people, his enthusiasm is contagious. If you spend anytime with Andrew, be prepared to catch his passion.

Kerri S.

Goddard, KS

About Kerri

I'm an extremely positive and motivated person who thoroughly enjoys sharing her gift and knowledge with other people. I have a Performer's Certificate, a Masters of Music and a Bachelors of Music in
Vocal Performance. I have been teaching voice lessons for seven years and currently run a private studio out of my home in Goddard, KS (West Wichita). As much as I love teaching, I also truly enjoy performing on stage. I am currently a member of the Wichita Grand Opera Chorus, and recently performed in their productions of Otello and Le Nozze di Figaro. I have also performed other professional roles such as Belle/Chorus in The Forum Theater's production of A Christmas Carol. Throughout my various degrees, I have also performed roles in Hansel and Gretel, Bastienund Bastienne, Dido and Aeneas, DieZauberflöte, The Lonley Empress, Les Contes d'Hoffman, Dangerous Liasons, Ariadne auf Naxosand Eric Hermansen's Soul.  I began teaching voice lessons during my vocal pedagogy class, while getting my Masters Degree. I have been teaching consistently for a total of seven years. I began teaching for a community school for the arts in Muncie, IN. After I graduated with my Masters Degree, I taught
lessons for a children's theater company in Manitowoc, WI until I started my Performer's Certificate. I taught for another community arts school during my Performer's Certificate in DeKalb, IL. After that, I began a private studio out of my home and have been teaching privately at my in-home studio ever since. I also have experience teaching Music Theory and Ear Training, Music Appreciation and Private Voice Lessons at the college level as an Adjunct Professor at Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL. I have always loved and enjoyed teaching! It has probably been one of the most rewarding experiences
of my life and I am always eager to welcome new students of all ages!

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach classical technique that can be applied to any type or genre of music. I usually start with standard singing and breathing techniques. Then I will listen to a student's voice and determine their range and pick out a solo song based on their range, ability level, and the preferences of the student. I am a firm believer that no student fits into the standard "box" of teaching. Therefore, I tailor my teaching style to match the individual needs, issues, and goals of a particular student. It is very important to me that students enjoy their lessons and feel engaged in the learning process. My biggest rule is that they need to have fun and enjoy what they are doing. I am a very kind, up-beat and friendly teacher that believes in positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. I encourage my students to communicate with
me on an equal level and to always ask questions if they don't understand something. Watching people learn and grow as singers, and knowing that you had a hand in it, is probably one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher. It is this ideal that fuels my need to teach others.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have set aside a complete room in my house for my teaching studio. I have a Baldwin spinet, a Manhasset music stand, a wide library of music and a sofa for students and their parents to sit on.

*** Travel Equipment ***
In travelling to student's homes, I would expect students to have access to a piano or keyboard with at least 65 keys.

*** Specialties ***
Opera and musical theater.

Beginner Piano Exercises: How to Tame the Flyaway Fourth Finger
When you're learning how to play the piano, finger exercises are especially important--especially if you're having trouble controlling that pesky fourth finger! Learn the steps to take in this guest post by Ann Arbor, MI teacher Amy C...   When I first began to learn piano, my fourth finger seemed bent on being anywhere but on the keys. The Life-Changing Thing to Do at Your Next Voice Lesson
How can you ensure you're making the most of your time in your singing lessons? Record yourself singing, so you can listen back on it later! Consider this advice from Hayward, CA teacher Molly R...   Back when I first started voice lessons, my teacher always made sure before we got started that I brought my tape (this was the early '90s!) so that I could record the lesson.
