Sylvia a grew up in Auburn, Alabama studying the violin and piano. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she graduated with both a Bachelor’s in Violin Performance and a Master’s degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. Sylvia is a fully registered violin teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and currently teaches with the Fayette Fiddlers and the Fine Arts Academy at First Baptist Church Opelika. An active performer, she is a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Sylvia’s students successfully participate in local youth orchestra and all-state programs, have won talent shows and competitions in their schools and communities, earned “distinctions” in their ABRSM exams, and a former student has been accepted into the Juilliard School of Music’s pre-college division. Sylvia and her students have performed as a group at venues in Chattanooga, Atlanta, Callaway Gardens, and also in local events and retirement communities, and look forward to many more fun performances together!

Sylvia made me feel much less anxious about playing in front of someone and gave me some excellent goals. She was very patient as we waded our way through technical stuff. I look forward to my next lesson!
