Steve is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and record producer. He currently is a music director at his local church and holds a degree from one of the best contemporary music schools. At GIT he had an opportunity to study and play with some of the best musicians in the world.  Steve is an educator giving music lessons all over the country for beginners to professional musicians.

Steve has been teaching my two boys piano for a few months now and it’s been great. My kids are 6 and 7 and had never played an instrument before. They absolutely love their lessons and have made a ton of progress in the short time since they started. I would recommend Steve for any music lesson needs you have.

Steve is a great teacher. I had some small working knowledge after trying to teach myself for a year without any luck and with Steve's help I've learned a lot and can play a couple of songs! He really listens to you and what your interests are and focuses on those rather than the traditional method of going through the basics and earning things we have no interest in like we all did in band class in school. Of course if that's what you need he will, but in all its focused on you and what you need to progress yourself as a musician. He is also very easy to work with in terms of making and changing schedules. If you have a hectic and ever changing life like myself it's no problem for Steve to work around. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in taking their guitar playing to the next level.

Steven is an excellent teacher. I wanted to learn how to play a song quickly but Steven showed me the chords and correct techniques. By learning this way, I can play a variety of songs and not just memorize one. I am thoroughly enjoying my lessons with Steven. He is professional and personable and has made learning fun. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to learn how to play the guitar. The most impressive part about Steven is he won't let you fall into bad habits pay attention focus.

Steve is an absolutely phenomenal teacher! He has been working with our 4th grade son for a couple of months and the progress has been substantial. Steve takes a genuine interest in the genres of music our son enjoys and uses that to enhance his interest in learning. I would absolutely recommend Steve for any age/level of guitar player.

Super-helpful.  Professional, knowledgeable, zeroes in on what you need to develop and gives you good advice on how to develop it.

My 10 year old beginner has been taking lessons from Mr. Ettling for a couple of months.  We are always amazed at the progress he makes each week.  Mr. Ettling great at assessing where a child's skills are, and how much more progress to ask for between lessons.  He listens well to my son's interests also.  We are very happy!

Steve does an amazing job of simplifying the guitar and making it a practical learning experience no matter what your skill level is! Great guitar player and teacher.
