I am a math teacher, tech integrationist, and author of Tech with Heart: Leveraging Technology to Empower Student Voice, Ease Anxiety, & Create Compassionate Classrooms. I started teaching math in 2007, taught AP Calculus AB for 13 consecutive years, and also taught Algebra 1 and Honors Algebra 2 for many years. I have experience teaching in a face-to-face setting, using a flipped model, and also in a purely online format. I have been creating math & tech videos for students & teachers since 2010 and have been able to reach over 3 million views through my YouTube channel. My strength is in simplifying complex topics in a way that feels more approachable. I seek to help learners deeply understand concepts instead of trying to memorize a bunch of rules or procedures. I think that confidence is an essential component to success, so my approach centers on developing strong relationships with my learners so that I can find customized study strategies that work best for them.

I have worked as a math teacher and director of educational technology. In my math teaching, I have taught courses ranging from Algebra 1 through AP Calculus AB (13 years of experience teaching AP Calc). I have taught students face-to-face, using a flipped classroom model, and in a purely online format. I have been creating instructional videos for students and teachers since 2010 and my videos have over 3 million views on YouTube. I am passionate about discovering and sharing innovative ways to leverage technology to cultivate deeper compassion in the classroom and provide each learner the optimal platform to express their ideas in a format that best fits their learning style. I aim to equip teachers with ideas and tech tools to create more inclusive, equitable, and empowering classrooms for every student to find their voice, build their confidence, and take ownership of their learning. In my math teaching, I continue to enjoy improving my flipped and online teaching models and tutoring students virtually and through video.
