English (ESL) with Mirey

Do you want to learn English fast? Learn English with a certified teacher who knows how to engage students! I use stories, songs, news articles, and funny poetry to teach because they capture the human imagination, young and old. They also help you learn English vocabulary in a context. This helps your brain make better connections between the words and their meanings, instead of learning isolated vocabulary. I have a master's in education, and a bachelor's in English from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. I have 5+ years in the classroom, between Virginia (U.S.) and Quebec (Canada), as well as virtual teaching and tutoring. In addition, I am now homeschooling my own children. I currently live in South Carolina, U.S.A. I LOVE meeting people from all around the world, getting to know my students, and learning about their cultures! I aim to make each student feel seen, known, and accepted, which I believe every human being deeply craves. I also believe that everyone, of all ages, learns better when they are having fun!
