    I have taught English as a Second Language for over 4 years, including 2 years in Japan and 2 years in Germany. I have worked with students of all ages, from kindergarten to grade 12, as well as adults. I know the common mistakes non-native speakers make when learning English, and I can guide you towards speaking confidently and smoothly. I am also an author, editor and proofreader, so I am used to working with words all day long! Take a lesson with me and let's improve your skills, vocabulary and confidence. All ages welcome.     Hi, my name is Joel. I'm from Australia and now I live in Hawaii. I am an author and editor who has published 4 books. I teach many subjects including writing, grammar, English, mathematics, history and more. I taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for many years, including for a total of 4 years in Germany and Japan. I enjoy helping people to speak English fluently and confidently. I have also taught primary school children before in diverse subjects such as Latin and chess. I specialize in helping people fine-tune their writing and grammatical skills, so they come out writing like a pro! My hobbies include traveling, hiking, reading, self-development and yoga.     Joel graciously takes the time to review my draft. During our periodic meetings, he demonstrates a keen(?) ability to assess the overall structure, even if the content isn't within his usual scope. This means he provides valuable feedback on sections I may have overlooked but need clarification. While generally generous, Joel also exhibits moments of sharp insight when necessary.
