    Lesson Details
The most important benefit of taking lessons from me is my youth. Too many teachers out there forget that ROCK DIDN'T DIE in the 60's. While the music from that time period deserves the recognition it receives, there's also amazing music being made today. Being in touch with fresh styles and techniques allows us to grow as MUSICIANS and ARTISTS, not just guitar players.

The best lessons I've ever had were lessons in which I walked away saying "Man, I never KNEW that!" and its my goal ...
    About
Music became my life when I found a dusty guitar in the storage room at age 12. I owe a lot of really cool experiences to the guitar and so many of them center around learning. Teaching is fun and rewarding, but it is also my way of thanking the great teachers I've had.

-Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory/Composition at Metropolitan State College of Denver

-Won a scholarship to the 2001 Summer Guitar Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ode to Joy Has taught my teen son for 15+ months. Very patient, engaged and focused teacher. Has a deep knowledge of the instrument and music, and can play just about anything. You may not love the chromatic scale or understand it... but you will soon appreciate it. Uses a step by step system, and tailors lessons to student's needs. Really pushes students to learn and develop confidence. Excellent in getting kids to read and hear notes. Best part is how he observes and watches everything from fingering to note reading and corrects things on the spot without missing a beat. February 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Teacher Mr. Parker is a great teacher, easy to talk to, very relaxed and lessons are always enjoyable. Chris hopes to take weekly lessons if he can fit in his and our schedule! November 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great instructor Parker is definitely a very versitale instructor. He manages to translate his obvious skill and talent into customized lessons for his students. The pace of each lesson is comfortable for me and he has a very effective approach to teaching technique as well as music theory. It's clear that this man loves the guitar and enjoys seeing others succeed at learning what could be a difficult instrument to understand. I highly recomend him August 29, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome with Kids My 6 year old son has been working with Parker for about two months and is making great progress, learning playing techniques and being introduced to the chromatic scale. Parker is great at teaching guitar to young kids, very patient and persistent. Would highly recommend him to other parents considering private lessons for their kids. August 20, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Feedback Parker is a wonderful instructor! He is very patient with my 6 year old and I like his teaching techniques!! He is very kind and very helpful and encouraging!! June 14, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than I could have hoped I am an older guy with some physical issues taking my first guitar lessons. I present what I assume is an above-average challenge for Parker. He has so far amazed and delighted me. Despite his formidable skills and knowledge, there is not a whiff of arrogance about him. He is patient, thoughtful, easygoing, and has a sense of humor. The hour-long sessions combine music theory and application, guitar demonstration and practice. This, to my mind, is a near perfect approach to teaching and learning. It likely to could be adapted to any proficiency level. I am eager to attend each session. April 29, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Parker has been an amazing teacher for me! He teaches you the theory behind the music you are reading rather than just showing you how to use guitar tabs. He selects practice songs that are fun to learn. He is a natural teacher and I am so grateful I found him to be my teacher. This has been a wonderful experience for me. I can't say enough good things about Parker and his skill on the guitar and his ability to teach others. November 29, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really Good! Parker is working with me and my 9 year old son at the same time. He is great at provding direction that is relevant to both of us. I have had almost 20 years of music lessons starting as a kid and Parker is by far the best instructor.Parker is great with my 9 year old son. Equally, he has been a great teacher for me (38 years old). March 22, 2010
  • Getting Started

Excited about jumping into music lessons? Before you can get to the guitar tabs, violin concertos, and vocal riffs, take a moment to think about the logistics of your lessons.
    Lesson Length
There are a few things to consider when choosing between 30-, 45- or 60-minute lessons. First and foremost, take your age and experience level into account. You'll also want to think about your long- and short-term goals, and the time you'll need to reach them. Most importantly, consider how long you or your child is able to stay focused.
    Lesson Location
Teachers have the option to display availability for in-home, in-studio, and online music lessons. In-home lessons take place at your house, in-studio lessons are conducted at the teacher's home or professional studio, and online lessons are taught over the internet via live video chat.

    Start Your Lessons

Now the excitement can really begin! Consider the following to ensure an exceptional first lesson...
    Prepare for Your First Lesson
Once you've completed the last step, your teacher will call you within the next couple of days to confirm your first lesson time and provide you with directions to their studio, if needed. We also encourage you to discuss your goals and any other questions you may have.
    What To Expect
Every teacher is different, but most first lessons begin with an assessment of where you are in your studies. At a beginner level, you might review the basics of your instrument, such as the different parts, how to hold it correctly, and proper care and maintenance. For voice, this may be the time you learn about breathing and posture.
    Reach the Goals You Set
Every TakeLessons student is unique, and so is your lesson plan! You'll work with your instructor to develop a plan suited to meet your specific goals. Most TakeLessons instructors will also keep track of your progress with a lesson journal.
