*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons take place at my home studio. Lessons may be recorded on my professional recording equipment or you may bring your own recording devices. This is an excellent learning tool. I teach my students how to extend their range, increase breath control and the freedom of their body in order to enable a free and easy produced vocal tone. I teach song repertoire to the student's particular musical style choices. I also work with students that wish to write their own songs so that their musical ideas can be heard clearly and precisely. A guitar is available for students if they wish to use it to accompany themselves. I teach my students how to deal with performance anxiety . Students are presented in recitals twice a year and performance classes are held once a month in addition to the private lessons.

IF you can talk you can sing and I guarantee it!!!! I teach beginners to advanced of all ages.

Marjorie was such a great teacher. Always encouraging and very positive, she helped me strengthen my voice in preparation for an audition I was nervous about. Within the first lesson I could already hear an improvement in the strength and tonality of my voice. She was also very precise about rhythm and other techniques in the songs I was singing. Pity I can't continue my lessons with her as I am leaving New York!

Thanks for your help Marjorie!

My 13-year daughter Lola really enjoys her sessions with Marjorie as she is preparing for auditions for LaGuardia High School and she has made such incredible progress in just two weeks that I am simply amazed. Marjory is much more than just a fantastic vocal coach. Marjorie's radiant energy and expertise keeps my daughter focused and entertained at the same time. I feel like we have hit the lottery with this amazing teacher

I noticed a difference in my vocal technique from the first lesson with Marjorie. She explained the concepts of breath and bringing your sound forward in a way that my previous teachers never could. I have finally learned to hear and feel the difference in my voice when I'm using the proper technique and it's so much easier to sing! She has a great patience and unwavering support for all of her students, and she knows how to push each individual to reach their potential without being forceful or mean. Marjorie is a wonderful vocal instructor and I recommend her for all levels of experience.

Although I started playing piano at the age of 3, until I met Marjorie I had been totally blocked at piano for at least 10 years. My mother would ask me gently, once a year, "don't you think you need to be playing?" And, of course, I never could. When I met Marjorie, I had so much anxiety about the piano, we mostly talked. And talk we did! Due to Marjorie's intuition, patience, understanding, and her own talent and creativity, I eventually broke my block.I have to say that with each lesson it get easier and easier to compose. At my last lesson, while Marjorie was checking my music theory work, I sat at the piano and everything seemed to come together. The music just flowed out of me. I don't really know how to thank Marjorie. It seems we just click. Thank you for recommending her to me. It has changed my life dramatically!Sincerely,Laurie Shell

positive, she makes learning enjoyable

I had never taken voice lessons before I started with Marjorie. She made me feel comfortable and excited with her positive energy. I feel like I've come a very long way in a short period of time.
