Fun Reading Classes for Kids with a Language Expert!

Does your child struggle to read, find it unenjoyable, or just need some extra practice? I’m here to help! In these 1-on-1 sessions, we will practice developing phonics, language and reading comprehension skills while also expanding vocabulary and confidence. In each class, we will focus on reading a book and studying related letter sounds and vocabulary. We will cover a range of different fiction and nonfiction texts to expose your child to a diverse selection of stories and voices.

I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and International Relations from Cleveland State University in 2016, where I graduated as Valedictorian. I then got my Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages & Literatures from the University of Pittsburgh, where I completed my doctoral studies in 2021. During my time at the University of Pittsburgh, I was a Graduate Student Instructor and taught several Spanish courses. I have also done online English and literacy tutoring with virtual learning companies such as Brilliant Grades and Littera Education. As part of my training at Littera, I became certified to teach literacy through the Teachers College Reading and Writing Program, which is offered through Columbia University. I currently work as a Children’s Caseworker and offer free K-5 literacy tutoring through my local library and online. I have a real passion for serving the local community, language learning, and teaching youth and adults!

Lana is an amazing Spanish teacher. We were colleagues at the university, and I remember having heard excelent comments about her by the students. She speaks Spanish as a native, and is really fun! I observed one of her classess and she connects with the students easily, acoording to their level of proficiency.
