Exact address will be provided upon lesson scheduling. Hello! My name is Kate and I love to play, sing and teach music! I have a degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa, and have several years of teaching experience. After graduating with my Bachelor's Degree in 2008, I became a full-time general music teacher, formed two children's choirs, and opened a private lessons studio to 30+ students, in Des Moines, IA. After three years of teaching, I shifted my focus from education to performance. I spent 2011-present touring the country with my band, Statue of Liberty. Since 2011, we have written, recorded and released two albums, and toured the country performing our original music. In January of 2014, I moved to Nashville, where I am now excited to bring both worlds together: teaching and performing music! I'm so happy that you're interested in taking music lessons! My courses in beginner-intermediate piano and voice include a well-rounded education in the basics of music theory, ear training, reading music, and musicality. Music lessons are an excellent way for to enhance your cognitive function, explore your personality, express yourself creatively and learn an instrument all at the same time! I structure my lessons around you! The fundamentals of music and performance are always included, but everyone has their own learning style; as your teacher I will get to know how you learn best, what you are most interested in learning, and structure your lessons around you and your goals. Whether you want to learn classical, rock n' roll, country, blues, showtunes, or maybe you aren't sure yet, but just want to get started, I can help you learn to play, sing, and discover the music you love. I offer private lessons in a safe and comfortable studio in East Nashville. I can also come to you if you're more comfortable with lessons at home, provided you have a semi-private space and a piano or keyboard. (and live within reasonable driving distance; 10-15 miles).
