Lesson Details
My students can expect to spend a portion of the lesson at the piano playing, and a portion going over theory (the rules of music). My teaching methods are meant to lay a strong foundation for the student so that they can go as far as they want. I won't teach them to simply play by ear. They'll learn how to read notes. I like to have fun, but I will insist that my students practice throughout the week. Practice makes perfect, and I do my best to make the curriculum interesting for the

Hi, I'm Joel. I'd say that my decision to take piano lessons turned out to be one of the most important things I've ever done. I've made great friends through music and discovered gifts that I wouldn't have known I had. I received my music degree from College of the Ozarks, where I studied piano performance, theory, composition and orchestration. After graduating, I interned with television composer Mike Post (NYPD Blue, Law and Order SVU) by winning a contest with one of my compositions.

I have recently published my first children's audio book "Creation Sings", which includes my own music. Playing piano has opened up different opportunities and even if I hadn't made it a career choice, it has still instilled in me discipline, confidence, and creativity. Over the years, I wouldn't have succeeded if it weren't for the patience and encouragement of my teachers. They not only taught me how to play, but helped me gain an appreciation for music and its history.
