Specialties

Jeff teaches a broad range of styles for acoustic guitar and bass guitar. From Acoustic rock, contemporary Christian, folk, blue grass, show tunes, rock, funk, slap bass, jazz, swing, and blues.

Lesson Details

Jeff is experienced at teaching students covering a broad range of ages, from elementary aged to students in their 50s. He always considers it a privilege to teach and is very sensitive to adapt to the individual goals and learning styles of each student. He enjoys sharing his love for music and life- helping students progress and quickly gain confidence and a love for their instrument and music. Jeff is very patient, flexible, and encouraging with his students and tries to help each student ... learn to take ownership of their music but most of all develop a joy and confidence in their own music ability and style. He teaches a wide range of musical genres:
With the bass guitar Jeff has instructed students in reading formal music notation, guitar tablature, and music theory, to mastering the basics of scales, playing by ear, and even slap bass.
On the acoustic guitar Jeff has enjoyed teaching both various strumming techniques, left hand fingering techniques, scales, chord structures, various picking techniques, as well as finger picking.
Jeff is very flexible and will tailor his curriculum based on each individual student and their musical level. He will guide them to develop good technique, become a better musicians and develop a new joy in their instrument.

Jeff is excited to have the opportunity to continue teaching music lessons and now getting to teach with Takelessons.com- in both bass guitar and acoustic guitar. His current and previous music students have ranged from elementary ages to adults in their late 50s. Jeff's gifts have enabled him to enjoy working students of all ages. He works hard to meet the specific goals of each individual student yet creates an atmosphere to assure that they are having fun!

Jeff received a bass guitar for ... Christmas when he turned thirteen years old. He immediately fell in love with the instrument, spending countless hours fascinated by the unique and rich sounds that the bass was capable of making. To him, it wasn't practice, it was play! He quickly progressed to advanced levels and enjoyed playing live several times a week in different bands at his church and also in the orchestra pit at the Cocoa Village Playhouse. His style ranged from contemporary Christian, to rock, Jazz, even playing gigs covering unique show tunes such as "West Side Story." Jeffrey quickly gained a reputation at a young age for being a versatile and competent musician that was uniquely able to play music by ear as well as read formal music notation.

At age eighteen, Jeff also fell in love with playing the acoustic guitar. He adapted quickly to the instrument and was able to apply his knowledge of music theory and the fret board of the bass guitar to the standard 6-string acoustic guitar. Within months Jeff started leading the weekly music at Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Florida- where there was a regular attendance of 500 plus people. His style ranges from contemporary Christian, praise and worship, to acoustic driven blue grass music such as Nickel Creek or Shane Barnard. Currently Jeff is on staff at Faith Fellowship Church and is the worship music director for the young adult ministry.
