I'm excited to have the opportunity to teach guitar lessons through Takelessons.com. My current and previous music students have ranged from elementary ages to adults in their late 70s. My gifts have enabled me to enjoy working with students of all ages. I work hard to meet the specific goals of each student while creating an atmosphere to assure that they are having fun! I'm experienced teaching students of all ages (I have taught early elementary aged to adults in their 70s). I consider it a privilege to teach and am very sensitive to adapt to the individual goals and learning styles of each student. I enjoy sharing my love for music and life- helping students progress and quickly gain confidence and a love for their instrument and music. I started playing guitar at age 13. To me, it wasn't just practice, it was play! With practice, I soon progressed to advanced levels and enjoyed playing in live venues several times a week. My style has ranged from contemporary Christian, rock, Jazz, to even jazzy show tunes such as "West Side Story." I gained a reputation at a young age for being a versatile and competent musician that was able to play music by ear as well as read formal music notation. An alumni from UF's class of 2007, I recently moved back to Gainesville after completing graduate school at Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando. I currently serve as the Worship Pastor at a local church, "The Chapel." *** Lesson Details *** I'm patient, flexible, and make every effort to encourage my students-- helping each student learn to take ownership of their music but most of all develop a joy and confidence in their own music ability and style. I teach a wide range of musical genres: My goal is to get you playing your favorite songs! I begin teaching basic chords, notes, reading music, various strumming techniques, left hand fingering techniques, scales, chord structures, various picking techniques, as well as finger picking. I'm flexible and will tailor my curriculum based on each student's individual goals. I will guide them to develop good technique, become a better musicians, and develop a new joy in their instrument. *** Studio Equipment *** Home-Front living room, sitting area for parents *** Travel Equipment *** Students need to provide their guitar *** Specialties *** I teaches a broad range of styles on guitar. From acoustic rock, contemporary Christian, folk, beginner blue grass, jazz, and blues.
