    About Cynthia U.

I am a professional working actor, director, producer and writer who has been teaching acting classes for 10 years in the Twin Cities. With 35 years of experience on stage, screen and television, students will find me to be not only extremely knowledgeable, but honest, kind and encouraging. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Theater from U.W.-Stevens Point, and augmented my studies with top-notch instructors in Los Angeles. While in Hollywood, I worked in television and films as an actor, and continue to do so in the Twin Cities. I am in the unique position of being able to provide many of my students with real-life experiences; casting them in projects with which I am affiliated. I have also worked as the on-set acting coach for film projects. Together, we will build your skills at your pace, from the ground up, in a nurturing environment. My teaching style is firm, but flexible; allowing for each student's unique way of learning and applying the skills they learn. ***Please note that I do have cats at my studio, so if you are highly allergic, coming to my space may not be the most comfortable fit for you.*** *** Lesson Details *** I offer a 6-part class "Acting Essentials for Beginners" which is comprised of one-hour lessons (Six Hours Total). By the end of the class, you will have learned the basic acting foundations, about HOW the acting business works, and will have your first monologue under your belt for use in an audition. After your first six weeks, you can decide if you'd like more private lessons, or I can pair you up with another actor for a 2-person Scene Study class. I teach you how to work and think like an actor. Because this is a competitive business, I am fairly strict about homework and ask that students arrive prepared for class with any exercises you have been assigned. I am very supportive, and offer praise when you put in the work--trying is what counts--success may take some time! If you put in the effort--your chances of succeeding are great! ***Buy Your Six Lessons Now! ------------ I also offer Absolute Beginners 2, Two-Person Private Scene Study, Monologue Coaching, Audition Preparation, and Role Preparation. Additionally, I am available for on-set coaching (rates vary, depending on budget of the project.) *** Studio Equipment *** Video camera and laptop to upload your work, if you'd like a file! *** Travel Equipment *** I provide books, hand-outs. *** Specialties *** Meisner, Eric Morris, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler; I use exercises and techniques across a range of teaching philosophies. I teach for both film and stage.
