    About Charles R.

Thank you for your time and interest! I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Berkeley and have been a full-time tutor since I graduated from college in 2009. The reason why I have been lucky enough to have been able to work full-time as tutor is that I retain my clients. I work with both high school and college level students. Since I have a degree in math, I can tutor higher level mathematics courses, like Calculus I, II, II, business Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. You will not find me getting stuck on problems very often. And since I've been tutoring for so long, I have the experience necessary to communicate the concepts effectively. I also tutor other mathematics courses, like Pre-algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Pre-Cauclus. My first experience tutoring was at Palomar College in 2006, while I was a student there. I was recruited by one of my professors to work for the school. My tutoring work at Palomar gave me a lot of experience tutoring students studying a variety of topics at a wide range of skill levels. I worked there until I transferred to Berkeley in 2007. After I graduated from Berkeley I immediately began tutoring again, but as a private in-home tutor. I passed the CSET mathematics subtest I & II in May 2010. My teaching philosophy is simple. Students need to spend time learning their subject, and they need to workout their own homework problems. The tutor's job is to explain the material, do examples, and find holes in students' understanding. Mastery of a subject takes time and hard work. I help students by creating focus, which helps them use their study time efficiently, and by finding errors in students' work which helps stop bad habits from forming. I work with the students' own class material at their own pace. I watch the students work problems and see how they react to instruction and adjust my tutoring style accordingly. *** Specialties *** All math classes
