As a Teach For America corps member. I was selected from a pool of approximately 40,000 applicants nationwide to serve as member of national service corps of recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in under-resourced public schools. During my time as a fourth grade teacher, I taught all subjects to students ranging from reading levels K-10, including special needs students with IEP's. Below, you will find a few of my accomplishments: • Designed a reading curriculum which led class to achieving 1.22 years of reading growth in six months • Founded the first Writing Club which led to a school-wide published newspaper • Developed & implemented four comprehensive skill-based tracking systems that 20 teachers (grades 2-5) used to monitored their student’s math mastery every month • Designed rigorous math curriculum for 4th grade team resulting in an average of 79.1% content mastery as measured by state Grade Level Content Expectations for 125 students • Planned and executed backward-planned lessons that incorporate checks for understandings and scaffolding • Led 83% of class to achieving 100% on multiplication speed drills through 12, numbers 1-12
