Learn YOUR Style of Guitar from an Experienced, Passionate, and Patient Professional!

About Me

A graduate of the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Music and Psychology and a trained instructor from the renowned National Guitar Workshop, Adam is an experienced teacher and performer on the guitar, bass, and piano, and is well-versed in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Adam loves to share his passion for music with others, and ever since his first student, an autistic child, Adam has sought to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ...

Lesson Details

My approach to music is strictly an individualized one, hoping to cater to the specific needs of each student. I don't have any set curriculum that I try to implement on every student, but rather assess the goals and interests of each student and work accordingly. My philosophy to teaching is a very simple one: if learning music is truly enjoyable and fun, students will develop a sincere love for their instrument and I will never need to nag the student to practice. While progressing in music obviously requires preparation outside of each lesson, I consciously avoid merely telling students to practice. Rather, I explain the benefits of dedicating time in between lessons to their instrument, as it will increase their rate of progress drastically.

Adam has been a New York private music instructor for TakeLessons since 2010. Adam is a certified local music teacher.

My Specialties

I specialize in a diverse variety of styles on the acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and piano, and am particularly skilled at communicating and applying theoretical and musical knowledge in a simplified manner. I am particularly capable in rock guitar, and have performed regularly in a rock band over the last 10 years as well as the University of Rochester's popular music performance group "No Jackets Required", where I served as the group's president. I also specialize in classical guitar, and studied the instrument extensively as an undergraduate at the Eastman School of Music. I am particularly capable of explaining music theory in a fun, clear, and coherent manner and specialized in this as an intern and teaching assistant at the National Guitar Workshop.

My Education
