Spirit of Enchantment - Piano Lessons in Albuquerque

By Steven O. - Albuquerque Piano Teacher

Hello, from Steven in Albuquerque. I have been teaching keyboard and piano lessons in Albuquerque for 21 years, and I find each year's students to be as refreshing as the last. They have musical spirit, and they share that in many ways.

If you are interested in taking piano lessons in Albuquerque, then you are in the land of opportunity. It is true that our town has provided the backdrop for shows from "I Love Lucy" to "Breaking Bad" - and for our musical youth, there have been the longstanding Albuquerque Youth Symphony and the boy and girl choir traditions.

It is that choir connection that helps piano lovers to thrive! Private piano students accompany choir groups or play solos at certain churches, which have impressive concert series. Also, many students play in talent shows put on by their public or charter schools. These students perform very well, with their peers cheering them on! I have heard selections such as Beethoven sonatas, traditional tangos, show tunes like "The Phantom Of The Opera," and music themes from video games.

Piano teachers in Albuquerque offer recitals at fine locations with excellent instruments. Certain teachers also offer competitions to their hardest workers. Soloists may compete, or those who prefer ensemble playing can enter the Concerto Competition. Advanced recitalists will set the stage as they inspire beginners with Bach Preludes or Minuets, themes from "Star Wars" or maybe even all nine pages of "Let It Go" from "Frozen!"

At all of these events, piano students receive professional evaluations, which provide growth experiences that build confidence. To become a self-assured piano player, a young beginner student might prepare just a few lines of "Yankee Doodle" or "Ode To Joy" for his or her first recital. Students may perform for 80 people in a beautiful church or in a recital hall with concert-quality acoustics. Either location could offer them a good Yamaha or Steinway grand piano on which they could perform.

When you want to take a break in the midst of your practice, you can check out the free concert offerings in the city of Albuquerque for some inspiration for your piano playing! These have included Christmas jazz concerts downtown, as well as musical events in the Albuquerque BioPark. If you'd like to see popular artists like Def Leppard or Lady Antebellum, they have performed here, as well. On the other hand, fine classical pianists like Olga Kern have played with the New Mexico Symphony.

From the Mariachi Spectacular to the Branford Marsalis Quartet, there is a wide range of music on the menu here in Albuquerque. If you yearn to be part of a musical community in which the most passionate thrive, then you are lucky to take piano lessons in Albuquerque!
