Hello! My name is Alex, I am a USCF (US Chess Federation) Expert rated 2036, with an International (FIDE) rating of 1870. I have instructed chess for 7 years, lecturing at a scholastic chess club and giving private lessons to adults. My lessons are conversational and student-oriented, open to discussion of the student's choice topic, whether it be openings, endings, tactics, puzzles, current events in chess, chess history, etc. More on my competitive experience, I have played individually in 48 US tournaments and one international tournament: the 2024 Reykjavik Open. Some of my best results are: (verifiable online on the USCF website, player ID: 13961116) * 32ND ANNUAL KING'S ISLAND OPEN (OH): U2100 1st place * 2023 INDIANA TEAM CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP (IN): 1st place * 50TH ANNUAL WORLD OPEN (PA): U2000 2nd place I have also competed online in the Chess.com Collegiate Chess League, as captain of the Indiana University Chess Club. I am looking to advance my chess passion into a teaching career.
